GPS measurement error and resource selection functions in a fragmented landscape

open access: yesEcography, 2006
Advances in technology have allowed ecologists to employ remote observations of individual organism's spatial location. These data are used to model species distributions and habitat associations, which inform conservation efforts and management plans. These data are not without error. To illustrate the consequences of not considering measurement error,

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Raptor resource use in agroecosystems: cover crops and definitions of availability matter

open access: yesAvian Conservation and Ecology, 2021
The populations of many species of raptors that forage in agroecosystems have declined as agriculture has intensified. Cover crops are a recent trend in areas of intensive row-crop agriculture in the Midwestern United States that could positively affect

Functional responses in resource selection by female elk.

open access: yes, 2013
Selection for the human disturbance footprint (a), security cover inside of the gas field (b), and security cover outside of the gas field (c) change as a function of availability.

A One-pass Resource-Allocating Codebook for Patch-based Visual Object Recognition [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Frequencies of occurrence of low-level image features is the representation of choice in the design of state-of-the-art visual object recognition systems.

Deciphering transcriptional plasticity in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma reveals alterations in sensory neuron innervation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pancreatic sensory neurons innervating healthy and PDAC tissue were retrogradely labeled and profiled by single‐cell RNA sequencing. Tumor‐associated innervation showed a dominant neurofilament‐positive subtype, altered mitochondrial gene signatures, and reduced non‐peptidergic neurons.

R Code and Output Supporting: Used-habitat calibration plots: A new procedure for validating species distribution, resource selection, and step-selection models

open access: yes, 2014
Each example.html file (“example_”) uses various uhcplot functions (html files with description “code for function”). The example with the MN moose data (example_4_moose.html) also uses data for one Minnesota moose from 2013 and 2014 (in moose12687.csv).

CCDC80 suppresses high‐grade serous ovarian cancer migration via negative regulation of B7‐H3

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
PAX8 is a lineage‐specific master regulator of transcription in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSC) progression. We show for the first time that PAX8 facilitates proliferation and metastasis by repressing the cell autonomous tumor suppressor CCDC80 and inducing B7‐H3 expression.

Partner Selection Criteria in Strategic Alliances When to Ally with Weak Partners [PDF]

open access: yes
In many emergent markets, cross-industry alliances are necessary to develop and market new products and services. The resource-based view suggests that firms form alliances to access or acquire valuable, rare, non-imitable and non-substitutable resources,

Time spent in rehabilitation affects resource selection patterns.

open access: yes, 2019
Relative probability of selection in 32 orangutans (n = 13 females, n = 19 males) as a function of the number of days spent in rehabilitation prior to their release (five different scenarios) interacted with the distance to the FZS station (a, in meters),
