ABSTRACT Introduction Bloodstream infections due to repeated vascular access (VA) puncture and circuit connections remain major concerns in hemodialysis. Therefore, we examined current practices for glove, disinfectant, and personal protective equipment (PPE) use according to VA type in national university hospitals in Japan.

An empirical nonlinear power spectrum overdensity response
Context. The overdensity inside a cosmological sub-volume and the tidal fields from its surroundings affect the matter distribution of the region. The resulting difference between the local and global power spectra is characterized by the response function.Aims.Our aim is to provide a new, simple, and accurate formula for the power spectrum overdensity ...

Revealing the structure of land plant photosystem II: the journey from negative‐stain EM to cryo‐EM
Advances in cryo‐EM have revealed the detailed structure of Photosystem II, a key protein complex driving photosynthesis. This review traces the journey from early low‐resolution images to high‐resolution models, highlighting how these discoveries deepen our understanding of light harvesting and energy conversion in plants.

Development of Seismic Demand for Chang-Bin Offshore Wind Farm in Taiwan Strait
Taiwan is located on the Pacific seismic belt, and the soil conditions of Taiwan’s offshore wind farms are softer than those in Europe. To ensure safety and stability of the offshore wind turbine supporting structures, it is important to assess the ...

Dynamic structure factor of a superfluid Fermi gas
We describe the excitation spectrum of a two-component neutral Fermi gas in the superfluid phase at finite temperature by deriving a suitable Random-Phase approximation with the technique of functional derivatives.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.
