Sliced rotated sphere packing designs

open access: yes, 2017
Space-filling designs are popular choices for computer experiments. A sliced design is a design that can be partitioned into several subdesigns. We propose a new type of sliced space-filling design called sliced rotated sphere packing designs. Their full

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Use of Chitosan and Chitosan–Magnetite Spheres for Arsenic Groundwater Removal: Factorial Designs as Tools to Optimize the Efficiency of Removal

open access: yesInorganics
The lack of access to drinking water is a problem affecting many regions worldwide. In Santa Fe, Argentina, the population uses groundwater as a source of drinking water.

E2A selectively regulates TGF‐β–induced apoptosis in KRAS‐mutant non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Ability to induce apoptosis by TGF‐β is frequently lost in advanced lung adenocarcinoma despite intact TGF‐β signaling. We identify E2A as a mutant KRAS–dependent mediator of resistance to TGF‐β–induced apoptosis. TGF‐β induces E2A via SMAD3 in mutant KRAS cells, and E2A silencing restores apoptosis and enhances radiation response in cell lines ...

Evaluating the prediction power and accuracy of two smart response surface experimental designs after revisiting repaglinide floating tablets

open access: yesFuture Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences
Background There is a soar in the figure of companies aiming to achieve efficiency in undergoing experimental processes. Therefore, instead of deploying one-factor-at-a-time, design of experiments is becoming rampantly utilized in order to reduce the ...

Lab-Scale Fiber Spinning Experimental Design Cost Comparison [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Engineered Fibers and Fabrics, 2010
Many statistical experimental designs are too costlyor require too much raw material to be feasible forlab-scale fiber spinning experiments. In this study afour-factor response surface design is presented tostudy the fiber spinning process in detail at ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Exploiting correlation in the construction of D-optimal response surface designs. [PDF]

open access: yes
Cost considerations and difficulties in performing completely randomized experiments often dictate the necessity to run response surface experiments in a bi-randomization format.
