Density Dependence and the Response Surface Methodology
Oikos, 1999Applying response surface methodology to ecological problems endeavours to disentangle the roles of endogenous and exogenous factors in population fluctuations. We explored the reliability of response surface methodology in revealing two fundamental properties of a given population series: whether the density dependence is direct or delayed, and ...

AN APPROACH TO OPTIMIZATION IN RESPONSE SURFACE METHODOLOGY
Communications in Statistics - Theory and Methods, 2001We consider the optimization of a response surface given by a polynomial model. In this article the problem is stated as a stochastic optimization problem. For the first-order model, the E-Model technique is used to find the maximum and stationary points; the exact distributions are derived under the linearity assumption.

Influence analysis in response surface methodology
Journal of Statistical Planning and Inference, 2014Abstract The study of response surface methodology (RSM) involves both experimental planning and data modeling and analysis. Once a design is selected, and data obtained from it, models for representing the data need to be considered and fitted. During the fitting process, observations that are suspicious (e.g. outliers and/or influential points) may

Response surface methodology in quality improvement
Communications in Statistics - Theory and Methods, 1991Recent work has lead to development of robust parameter design which alleviates criticisms of the Taguchi approach. A dual response surface approach is discussed and illustrated.

Multiple Comparisons with a Control in Response Surface Methodology
Technometrics, 1993Quadratic response surface methodology often focuses on finding the levels of some (coded) predictor variables x = (x l, x 2, …, x k ) that optimize the expected value of a response variable y. Typically the experimenter starts from some best guess or “control” combination of the predictors (usually coded to x = 0) and performs an experiment varying ...

Integration of Response Surface Methodology with Genetic Algorithms
The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, 2001Response surface methodology (RSM) is a methodology that combines experimental designs and statistical techniques, for empirical model building and optimisation. By conducting experiments and applying regression analysis, RSM seeks to relate a response to some input variables.
