Mechanistic Insights and Catalytic Efficiency of a 2,2'-Bipyridine-Coordinated Peroxidovanadium Complex as a Haloperoxidase Biomimetic. [PDF]
A peroxidovanadium(V) complex mimics vanadium haloperoxidases for eco‐friendly halogenation of organic substrates. Density functional theory studies reveal two major reaction pathways for iodide/bromide oxidation. The catalyst offers high‐yield bromination/iodination of 8‐hydroxyquinoline (73/86%) under mild conditions (30 °C, pH 5.8), and it also ...

Continuous-Wave (CW) Photo-CIDNP NMR Spectroscopy: A Tutorial. [PDF]
ABSTRACT Photo‐chemically induced dynamic nuclear polarisation (photo‐CIDNP) is a nuclear spin‐selective magnetic resonance phenomenon that has traditionally been used to mechanistically study chemical reactions involving the (transient) formation of radical molecular species, extract EPR observables of short‐lived radicals, probe biomolecular ...

Cupin-Type Dimethylsulfoniopropionate Lyase from Pelagibacter ubique (DddKPu) Catalyzes Aza-Michael Addition of Primary and Secondary Amines to Acrylic Acid. [PDF]
A dimethylsulfoniopropionate lyase (DddK) was identified as an efficient aza‐Michaelase for the addition of amines to acrylate. Screening 74 amines with wild‐type DddK and its W26G variant yielded N‐substituted and N,N‐disubstituted β‐amino acids in 30%–93% isolated yield.

(Bio)Functionalisation of Metal–Organic Polyhedra by Using Click Chemistry
Copper(I)‐catalysed alkyne‐azide cycloaddition click chemistry is a versatile post‐synthetic tool to functionalize the surface chemistry of alkyne‐functionalized cuboctahedral Metal–Organic Polyhedra (MOPs). This methodology enables quantitative functionalization of MOPs with a wide range of functional groups, including polymers, carboxylic and ...

Synthesis of C60/[10]CPP‐Catenanes by Regioselective, Nanocapsule‐Templated Bingel Bis‐Addition
The combination of three approaches (tether, nanohoop template & supramolecular shadow mask) enabled the itero‐ and regioselective synthesis of [2]catenanes via bis‐addition of bis‐bromomalonates to the complex C60⸦[10]CPP. The use of a “traceless” nanocapsule shadow mask was key for obtaining 87 % selectivity for the “in,out‐trans‐3′′ product, where ...

18O‐enrichment of liver glycogen, triglyceride glycerol, and blood glucose of mice given 18O‐water during overnight feeding was quantified by 13C NMR and MS. Glycogen 18O‐enrichment of oxygens 3, 5, and 6 from isotope‐shifted 13C signals informed indirect pathway contributions from different sources.

Unravelling the Mechanistic Pathway of the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction Driven by a Cobalt Catalyst
A CoI complex bearing a redox‐active κ‐N3P2 pentadentate ligand and its activity towards hydrogen evolution reaction is reported in this work. A combination of spectroscopic, electrochemical and computational techniques is employed to characterize the intermediate species, demonstrating an unusual homolytic coupling reaction pathway between two ...

Electrochemically Mediated Atom Transfer Radical Polymerization Driven by Alternating Current
The study introduces alternating current (AC) electrolysis in ATRP using a symmetrical Cu/Cu electrode pair to generate the CuI activator complex and drive the polymerization. Square and sinusoidal waves at 0.1 Hz from an AC generator were used to polymerize many monomers (including functionals) in organic solvent, water, and bulk.
