A transparent, laser‐microscribed glass platform enables cancer diagnosis within 1 h—much faster than histology, which takes days, and free from the chemical or contrast risks of MRI or CT scans. The antibody‐functionalized rough glass surface captures viable cancer cells directly from suspension, allowing instant optical readout and offering a rapid ...

Evidence for energy conservation during pubertal growth. A 10-year longitudinal study (EarlyBird 71) [PDF]
BACKGROUND: Diabetes is closely linked to obesity, and obesity rates climb during adolescence for reasons that are not clear. Energy efficiency is important to obesity, and we describe a temporary but substantial fall in absolute energy expenditure ...

MagPiezo enables wireless activation of endogenous Piezo1 channels without genetic modification using 19 nm magnetic nanoparticles and low‐intensity magnetic fields. It generates torque forces at the piconewton scale to trigger mechanotransduction in endothelial cells, standing as a novel platform to interrogate and manipulate Piezo1 activity in vitro.

This work introduces an in situ precipitation strategy for the hydrogel‐based vat photopolymerization of architected ceramics and metals with reduced shrinkages and improved densities. Repeated infusion‐precipitation significantly increases metal loading within the hydrogels, which improves part quality after thermal conversion.

Resting energy expenditure and its determinants in hemodialysis patients [PDF]
Objective: Chronic kidney disease is associated with several metabolic disturbances that can affect energy metabolism. As resting energy expenditure (REE) is scarcely investigated in patients on hemodialysis (HD) therapy, we aimed to evaluate the REE and
