Recovery to Resting Metabolic State after Walking

Journal of the American Dietetic Association, 2009
Metabolic rate is usually measured in a resting state. To achieve this, a period of up to 30 minutes is given to recover from walking prior to the test. A work group from the American Dietetic Association recommends that 10 to 20 minutes is sufficient to achieve rest, but supporting data are limited.

Body composition and resting metabolic rate: the myth of feminine metabolism

The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 1982
Resting metabolic rate (RMR) in adults can be viewed from two perspectives. Body surface area is used to index RMR in the clinical perspective. Normal values of RMR are thus sex-specific and appear to be lower in women. However, the physiological perspective is one of an asexual metabolism that differs in the mass of active cells. The body cell mass is

[Metabolism of proliferating and resting cells].

Tsitologiia, 1980
This review concerns the modern trends and experimental approaches to the study of cell cycle (cell population kinetics, cell structure and functions at various steps of the cycle,, etc.) and their input into the current views of cell proliferation controls. The resting state of the cell is considered and metabolic features of proliferating and resting
