Coefficient of Restitution of a Tennis Ball

open access: yesInternational Scholastic Journal of Science, 2007
The coefficient of restitution (COR) of a tennis ball was investigated over a range of impact velocities. It was found that the COR of the ball was lower than ATP regulations specify, and that the COR decreased with increasing impact velocity.

Serum Soluble Mediator Signatures of Lupus Nephritis: Histologic Features and Response to Treatment

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Lupus nephritis (LN) management remains challenging, and novel noninvasive biomarkers are needed. This study quantified serum soluble mediators in the Accelerating Medicines Partnership (AMP) LN cohort to identify biomarkers of histologic features and treatment response.

Temperature of a granular gas with regard to the stochastic nature of particle interactions

open access: yesNew Journal of Physics, 2013
The decay of temperature of a force-free granular gas in the homogeneous cooling state depends on the specific model for particle interaction. For the case of rough spheres, in recent experimental and theoretical work, the coefficient of restitution was ...

Ultrasonography Compared With Computed Tomography in Identifying Thoracic Aortic Aneurysms in Patients With Giant Cell Arteritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective The objectives of this study were to evaluate the correlation and agreement between ultrasonography and computed tomography (CT) in measuring ascending aorta diameter in patients with giant cell arteritis (GCA) and to investigate the development of new ascending aortic aneurysms in patients with newly diagnosed GCA.

Performance Characteristics of Anti–Collagen II Antibodies in Relapsing Polychondritis and Related Diseases: Prospective Analysis, Systematic Review, and Meta‐Analysis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Relapsing polychondritis (RP) is a rare disease defined by recurrent cartilaginous inflammation. Anti–collagen II (Col2) antibodies have been proposed as a diagnostic biomarker for RP, but their performance characteristics are not well defined.

Investigation of the Effect of Restitution Coefficient on 3-Dimensional Rockfall Analyses

open access: yesDoğal Afetler ve Çevre Dergisi
Due to its geological, geomorphological and climatic characteristics, Türkiye frequently experiences natural disasters, among which rockfalls pose significant risks, causing considerable loss of life and property in many regions of the country.

Validation of the Pediatric Arthritis Ultrasound Scoring System for the Elbow, Wrist, and Finger Joints in Children With Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective We aimed to validate the Pediatric Arthritis Ultrasound Scoring System (PAUSS) for upper extremity joints in children with juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA). Methods Children with JIA were evaluated for elbow, wrist, or finger arthritis by clinical examination (CE) and musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSUS) with images scored according to the ...

Temperature Dependence of the Coefficient of Restitution for a Rubber Ball

open access: yesInternational Scholastic Journal of Science, 2010
The relationship between the temperature and the coefficient of restitution of a polybutadiene superball was investigated. The ball was released from a fixed height and tracked with a motion detector as it bounced.

Unloading properties based elastoplastic continuous contact force model: Restitution and stiffness characterization

open access: yesAIP Advances
A nonlinear contact force model is developed for spherical elastoplastic impacts. The nonlinear contact force model is constructed based on an existing piecewise model and the other based on the force–displacement diagram. The energetic impact law of the
