A family of conjugate gradient methods for large-scale nonlinear equations

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2017
In this paper, we present a family of conjugate gradient projection methods for solving large-scale nonlinear equations. At each iteration, it needs low storage and the subproblem can be easily solved.

Weak universality, bicritical points and reentrant transitions in the critical behaviour of a mixed spin-1/2 and spin-3/2 Ising model on the union jack (centered square) lattice

open access: yes, 2006
The mixed spin-1/2 and spin-3/2 Ising model on the union jack lattice is solved by establishing a mapping correspondence with the eight-vertex model. It is shown that the model under investigation becomes exactly soluble as a free-fermion eight-vertex ...

Evolutionary interplay between viruses and R‐loops

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Viruses interact with specialized nucleic acid structures called R‐loops to influence host transcription, epigenetic states, latency, and immune evasion. This Perspective examines the roles of R‐loops in viral replication, integration, and silencing, and how viruses co‐opt or avoid these structures.

RestrictionDigest: A powerful Perl module for simulating genomic restriction digests

open access: yesElectronic Journal of Biotechnology, 2016
Background: Reduced-representation sequencing technology is widely used in genotyping for its economical and efficient features. A popular way to construct the reduced-representation sequencing libraries is to digest the genomic DNA with restriction ...

High Resolution Typing by Whole Genome Mapping Enables Discrimination of LA-MRSA (CC398) Strains and Identification of Transmission Events. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
After its emergence in 2003, a livestock-associated (LA-)MRSA clade (CC398) has caused an impressive increase in the number of isolates submitted for the Dutch national MRSA surveillance and now comprises 40% of all isolates. The currently used molecular

Minimal generating and normally generating sets for the braid and mapping class groups of the disc, the sphere and the projective plane

open access: yes, 2012
We consider the (pure) braid groups B_{n}(M) and P_{n}(M), where M is the 2-sphere S^2 or the real projective plane RP^2. We determine the minimal cardinality of (normal) generating sets X of these groups, first when there is no restriction on X, and ...

A Remark on the Restriction Map in Field Formation [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1976
In this note we point out that in a field formation ( G , { G F } , A ) (G,\{ {G_F}\} ,A) , if h 2 ( K / F ) =

Circulating histones as clinical biomarkers in critically ill conditions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Circulating histones are emerging as promising biomarkers in critical illness due to their diagnostic, prognostic, and therapeutic potential. Detection methods such as ELISA and mass spectrometry provide reliable approaches for quantifying histone levels in plasma samples.

Genetic Analysis Using Partial Sequencing of Melanocortin 4 Receptor (MC4R) Gene in Bligon Goat

open access: yesMedia Peternakan, 2017
Melanocortin 4 Receptor gene is involved in sympathetic nerve activity, adrenal and thyroid functions, and media for leptin in regulating energy balance and homeostasis. The aim of this research was to perform genetic analysis of MC4R gene sequences from

Exact solution of a 1D many-body system with momentum dependent interactions

open access: yes, 2004
We discuss a 1D many-body model of distinguishable particles with local, momentum dependent two-body interactions. We show that the restriction of this model to fermions corresponds to the non-relativistic limit of the massive Thirring model.
