Data_Sheet_1_Multiplexed CRISPR/Cas9 Targeting of Genes Implicated in Retinal Regeneration and Degeneration.XLSX

open access: yes, 2018
Thousands of genes have been implicated in retinal regeneration, but only a few have been shown to impact the regenerative capacity of Müller glia—an adult retinal stem cell with untapped therapeutic potential.

Repurposing antimicrobial agents for neuroprotection: Mechanisms, clinical potential, and challenges

open access: yesNeuroprotection, EarlyView.
Antimicrobial agents exert neuroprotective effects through modulation of interconnected pathways. Tetracyclines, macrolides, antimalarial agents, sulfones, and antiparasitic agents suppress neuroinflammation, oxidative stress, and apoptosis while preserving mitochondrial function and neurotransmission.

Polyphyllin I Alleviates Alcoholic Liver Disease via Modulation of the Phosphodiesterase 6D–Cyclic Guanosine Monophosphate–Protein Kinase G Axis

open access: yesPhytotherapy Research, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Alcoholic liver disease (ALD) is a multifaceted disorder in which oxidative injury, iron‐dependent ferroptosis, steatosis, and inflammation are closely intertwined. Consequently, therapeutic strategies targeting a single pathway often produce limited clinical benefits.

Photoreceptor regeneration occurs normally in microglia-deficient irf8 mutant zebrafish following acute retinal damage

open access: yes
Microglia are resident immune cells in the central nervous system, including the retina that surveil the environment for damage and infection. Following retinal damage, microglia undergo morphological changes, migrate to the site of damage, and express ...
