Pharmacological activation of NO‐cGMP signalling attenuates metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatohepatitis

open access: yesBritish Journal of Pharmacology, Volume 183, Issue 18, Page 5476-5495, September 2026.
Background and Purpose Metabolic dysfunction‐associated steatohepatitis (MASH) is linked to activation of hepatic stellate cells (HSCs) to α‐smooth muscle actin–positive myofibroblasts that produce collagen and proinflammatory cytokines. Quiescent HSCs express the NO‐cGMP signalling axis.

Last Tile Added to a Mosaic: Phylogenetic Placement of Enigmatic Freshwater Fish Leucalburnus satunini (Cypriniformes: Leuciscidae) Uncovered

open access: yesZoologica Scripta, Volume 55, Issue 5, Page 718-727, September 2026.
ABSTRACT Subfamily Leuciscinae, the largest freshwater fish group of the western Palearctic region, has been widely studied, including the phylogenetic relationships between its species and genera. However, until now, one genus completely escaped attention in this regard. Even though several works hypothesised about its evolutionary relationships based

Turning Unpredictable Biomolecule Adsorption to Controlled Corona Formation: Focus on Carbon Nanomaterials

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, Volume 38, Issue 46, 18 August 2026.
Controlling the protein corona formation onto carbon nanomaterials (CNMs) enhances their functionalities as platforms for cancer theranostics. Here, we reviewed the effects of the intrinsic and acquired properties of CNMs on protein corona formation, the consequent biological and toxicological outcomes, and the strategies to reshape corona formation ...

Single‐Cell Annotation and Localization via Integrating Spatial Transcriptomics Maps the Mouse Ocular Atlas and RAO Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 13, Issue 47, 24 August 2026.
We developed the ASCAL pipeline, integrating complementary spatial transcriptomics, to construct a high‐fidelity mouse whole‐eye single‐cell atlas. Applying ASCAL to a retinal artery occlusion (RAO) model revealed spatially restricted immune activation localized to the ganglion cell layer and the selective depletion of a translationally active, outer ...

Nutritional Composition of African Catfish (Clarias gariepinus) in Ghana: Effects of Culture Conditions, Feed and Processing

open access: yesAquaculture, Fish and Fisheries, Volume 6, Issue 4, August 2026.
This review synthesizes current evidence on the nutritional composition of African catfish (Clarias gariepinus), with emphasis on Ghanaian aquaculture. The species is a valuable source of high‐quality protein, essential amino acids, minerals and vitamins, although lipid composition varies widely.

Chemical Composition and Biological Activities of Geopropolis From Four Melipona Species From the Brazilian Atlantic Forest

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, Volume 23, Issue 8, August 2026.
Geopropolis from four Melipona species collected in the Brazilian Atlantic Forest during the dry and rainy seasons was chemically characterized by ESI(‐)‐FT‐ICR MS and evaluated for antioxidant, anti‐inflammatory, and antifungal activities, demonstrating species‐ and season‐dependent variation in its chemical composition and biological properties ...
