The Metabolic Role of Retinol Binding Protein 4: An Update [PDF]
Retinol binding protein 4 (RBP(4)) is regarded as a novel cardiometabolic risk factor, which is secreted mainly by the hepatocytes and also by the adipose tissue. RBP(4) has been shown to induce insulin resistance, and plasma RBP(4) values are increased in type 2 diabetes mellitus, obesity, metabolic syndrome, and cardiovascular disease.

Role of retinol-binding protein 4 in obese Asian Indians with metabolic syndrome [PDF]
Retinol-binding protein 4 is an adipocytokine separately implicated in the development of obesity-related insulin resistance and proatherogenic lipid profile, however, its role in humans is unclear.

Retinol-binding protein 4 and insulin resistance in preeclampsia
Preeclampsia is characterized by the onset of high blood pressure and proteinuria during pregnancy, which results in substantial maternal and neonatal morbidity and mortality. Insulin resistance has been observed before the onset of preeclampsia, and is implicated in its pathophysiology. Recently, retinol-binding protein 4 (RBP4), which carries retinol

Hydrophobic Ligand Binding by Zn-α_2-glycoprotein, a Soluble Fat-depleting Factor Related to Major Histocompatibility Complex Proteins [PDF]
Zn-alpha2-glycoprotein (ZAG) is a member of the major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class I family of proteins and is identical in amino acid sequence to a tumor-derived lipid-mobilizing factor associated with cachexia in cancer patients.

Effect of sampling method and storage conditions on albumin, retinol-binding protein, and N-acetyl-β-D-glucosaminidase concentrations in canine urine samples [PDF]
Urinary markers for renal dysfunction are gaining interest but effects of sampling method, storage conditions, and urinary tract inflammation or infection on these markers are unclear Therefore, the objectives of the current study were to determine the ...
