An improved variant of the rare event simulation method RESTART using prolonged retrials
RESTART is a widely applicable accelerated simulation technique that allows the evaluation of extremely low probabilities. In this method a number of retrials (or paths) are made when the process reaches certain thresholds of a function of the system ...

Vacation and Polling Models with Retrials [PDF]
We study a vacation-type queueing model, and a single-server multi-queue polling model, with the special feature of retrials. Just before the server arrives at a station there is some deterministic glue period. Customers (both new arrivals and retrials) arriving at the station during this glue period will be served during the visit of the server ...

Replicating RESTART with Prolonged Retrials: An Experimental Report [PDF]
Statistical model checking uses Monte Carlo simulation to analyse stochastic formal models. It avoids state space explosion, but requires rare event simulation techniques to efficiently estimate very low probabilities.

Stability condition of multiclass classical retrials: a revised regenerative proof [PDF]
We consider a multiclass retrial system with classical retrials, and present a new short proof of the sufficient stability (positive recurrence) condition of the system.

Multi-sensor comparison of aerosol optical properties profiles observed during a pollution episode in a mega city of the North China Plain [PDF]
A fine aerosol particle pollution episode happened in mega city Beijing during February 25th – March 5th. Aerosol extinction coefficient profiles were observed at 7 L idar s ta ti ons.

Analysis of retrial queue with heterogeneous servers and Markovian arrival process
Multi-server retrial queueing system with heterogeneous servers is analyzed. Requests arrive to the system according to the Markovian arrival process. Arriving primary requests and requests retrying from orbit occupy an available server with the highest ...

A survey on retrial queues [PDF]
A systematized survey of the analytic results for retrival queues is given by discussing a generalized model A/B/s/m/O/H. Here, A and B describe the interarrival and service time distribution, respectively, s denotes the number of waiting positions in the queue, O is the capacity of an orbit for the retrying customers and \(H=\{H_ k\), \(k\geq 0 ...

Retrial queues with constant retrial times
The paper under review studies a single server queueing system without buffer. Customers arrive in the queue according to a Poisson process with rate \(\lambda\) and immediately receive the service, if the server is available. If the server is busy, the customer joins the orbit and retries after a deterministic time \(S\).
