Retting process of some bast plant fibres and its effect on fibre quality : a review. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Retting is the main challenge faced during the processing of bast plants for the production of long fibre. The traditional methods for separating the long bast fibres are by dew and water retting.

Pharmacokinetic Drug–Drug Interaction Potential of Oral Anticancer Drugs

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Drug–drug interaction (DDI) management is critical for safe and effective use of oral anticancer drugs (OADs). Our study objectives were to (i) compile clinically relevant pharmacokinetic (PK) DDI mechanisms for OADs and (ii) assess the prevalence of PK potential DDIs (PDDIs) in patients with advanced solid cancers.

Characterization of CD123 expression by mast cells in systemic mastocytosis with multicolor flow cytometry

open access: yesCytometry Part B: Clinical Cytometry, EarlyView.
Abstract Systemic mastocytosis (SM) is a clonal mast cell (MC) disorder characterized by aberrant immunophenotypes, including expression of CD25, CD2, and occasionally CD30. CD123, the α‐subunit of the interleukin‐3 receptor, is a therapeutic target in hematologic malignancies and has been reported to be expressed on neoplastic MCs by ...

Evaluation of cottonised hemp fibre produced using a new catalytic degumming system [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Hemp (Cannabis sativa L) fibres in their individualised form are a viable alternative to cotton fibres for textile manufacture. These fibres have similar diameter, length and properties to cotton however obtaining individual fibres from the fibre rich ...

The impact of forced closure on proppant distribution of hydraulic fracturing in shale formations

open access: yesDeep Underground Science and Engineering, EarlyView.
Research findings demonstrate that implementing forced closure within shale formations can remarkably mitigate proppant settlement, concurrently increasing the effective propped surface area from 29.74% to 38.68%. Abstract Forced closure is widely used in conventional oil and gas reservoirs to promote uniform proppant placement.

Record of vegetation, climate change, human impact and retting of hemp in Garhwal Himalaya (India) during the past 4600 years [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
This study is focused on a 3.55-m-long sediment core retrieved from Badanital (i.e. the BT core) in 2008. Badanital (30°29′50″N, 78°55′26″E, 2083 m a.s.l.) is a small lake located in the upper catchment area of the Ganges in Garhwal Himalaya, northern ...

Modifications Caused by Enzyme-Retting and Their Effect on Composite Performance

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2011
Bethune seed flax was collected from Canada with seed removed using a stripper header and straw pulled and left in field for several weeks. Unretted straw was decorticated providing a coarse fiber bundle feedstock for enzyme treatments. Enzyme treatments

The effectiveness of delineation treatments [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A literature review undertaken for Transit NZ has found that delineation has a significant effect on driver behaviour with, for example, shoulder rumble strips reducing run-off-theroad crashes by between 22% and 80% (average of 32% for all crashes and 44%
