Quarterly Journal of the Royal Meteorological Society, EarlyView.Supercells are a class of long‐lasting thunderstorms with rotating updrafts that often cause severe weather, hail, and tornadoes. This study uses numerical simulations to characterize the stratospheric gravity waves that are caused by these storms.
