Dissociation of Cerebral Blood Flow and Femoral Artery Blood Pressure Pulsatility After Cardiac Arrest and Resuscitation in a Rodent Model: Implications for Neurological Recovery. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
Background Impaired neurological function affects 85% to 90% of cardiac arrest (CA) survivors. Pulsatile blood flow may play an important role in neurological recovery after CA.

Hypothermic cardiac arrest: prognostic factors for successful resuscitation before rewarming

open access: yesScandinavian Journal of Trauma, Resuscitation and Emergency Medicine
Objective To indicate factors predicting return of spontaneous circulation in patients with hypothermic cardiac arrest in the pre-rewarming period. Methods A multicenter retrospective study was conducted.

P-ROSC, UB-ROSC, and RACA Scores in Predicting the Return of Spontaneous Circulation in Out-of-hospital Cardiac Arrest: A Retrospective Cohort

open access: yesArchives of Academic Emergency Medicine
Introduction: Prehospital Return of Spontaneous Circulation (P-ROSC), Utstein-Based Return of Spontaneous Circulation (UB-ROSC), and Return of Spontaneous Circulation After Cardiac Arrest (RACA) scores have been developed to estimate the likelihood of ...

Antiemesis Corticosteroids Potentiate Checkpoint Blockade Efficacy by Normalizing the Immune Microenvironment in Metastatic Murine Breast Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Corticosteroids improve the efficacy of immune checkpoint blockade therapy in metastatic murine breast cancer. By normalizing the tumor immune microenvironment, corticosteroids reduce immunosuppressive signals, restore T‐cell function, and promote antitumor immune responses, resulting in enhanced tumor control.

Hypothermia and postconditioning after cardiopulmonary resuscitation reduce cardiac dysfunction by modulating inflammation, apoptosis and remodeling [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
Background: Mild therapeutic hypothermia following cardiac arrest is neuroprotective, but its effect on myocardial dysfunction that is a critical issue following resuscitation is not clear.

Risk‐Standardizing Rates of Return of Spontaneous Circulation for In‐Hospital Cardiac Arrest to Facilitate Hospital Comparisons

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association : Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2020
Background Sustained return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) is the most proximal and direct assessment of acute resuscitation quality in hospitals. However, validated tools to benchmark hospital rates for ROSC after in‐hospital cardiac arrest currently

Tunneling‐Controlled Fusion of Short‐ and Long‐Term Memory in SiO2/HfO2‐Based Neuromorphic Device for Time‐Series Prediction

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Based on trap‐assisted tunneling, the devices can fuse STM/LTM, where the low switching energy of 1 pJ and stable low‐power retention (0.2 % loss ratio and 3.05 × 10−11 W) is achieved. Training in a long short‐term memory network it allows to analysis time‐series data and then makes precise long‐term predictions with an error ratio of 4.465 ...

Vortices on demand in multicomponent Bose-Einstein condensates

open access: yes, 2012
We present a simple mechanism to produce vortices at any desired spatial locations in harmonically trapped Bose-Einstein condensates (BEC) with multicomponent spin states coupled to external transverse and axial magnetic fields.
