Based on the modified Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation for an arbitrary Stoner particle under an external magnetic field and a spin-polarized electric current, differential equations for the optimal reversal trajectory, along which the magnetization ...

Time-reversal symmetry breaking with acoustic pumping of nanophotonic circuits [PDF]
Achieving non-reciprocal light propagation via stimuli that break time-reversal symmetry, without magneto-optics, remains a major challenge for integrated nanophotonic devices.

Social context prevents heat hormetic effects against mutagens during fish development
This study shows that sublethal heat stress protects fish embryos against ultraviolet radiation, a concept known as ‘hormesis’. However, chemical stress transmission between fish embryos negates this protective effect. By providing evidence for the mechanistic molecular basis of heat stress hormesis and interindividual stress communication, this study ...

Effectiveness of Sugammadex on muscle relaxant reversal in preterm neonates
Background & objective Sugammadex is a drug used to reverse the muscle relaxation effect of rocuronium. Its use is still limited in preterm neonates. The aim of this study was to compare the efficacy of Sugammadex with that of neostigmine in reversing ...

Design of Reversible Computing Systems; Large Logic, Languages, and Circuits [PDF]
This PhD dissertation investigates garbage-free reversible computing systems from abstract design to physical gate-level implementation. Designed in reversible logic, we propose a ripple-block carry adder and work towards a reversible circuit for general multiplication.

Observation of vortex-nucleated magnetization reversal in individual ferromagnetic nanotubes [PDF]
The reversal of a uniform axial magnetization in a ferromagnetic nanotube (FNT) has been predicted to nucleate and propagate through vortex domains forming at the ends.

Reverse engineering is reverse forward engineering [PDF]
Reverse engineering is focused on the challenging task of understanding legacy program code without having suitable documentation. Using a transformational forward engineering perspective, we gain the insight that much of this difficulty is caused by design decisions made during system development.

miRNA‐29 regulates epidermal and mesenchymal functions in skin repair
miRNA‐29 inhibits cell‐to‐cell and cell‐to‐matrix adhesion by silencing mRNA targets. Adhesion is controlled by complex interactions between many types of molecules coded by mRNAs. This is crucial for keeping together the layers of the skin and for regenerating the skin after wounding.

Treating exceptional cases as marks of an essence is as bad as essentialism. I suggest we understand art as a practice, not as something we could, or should find the eternally necessary and sufficient conditions of.

From Reversible Semantics to Reversible Debugging [PDF]
This paper presents a line of research in reversible computing for concurrent systems. This line of research started in 2004 with the definition of the first reversible extensions for concurrent process calculi such as CCS, and is currently heading to the production of practical reversible debuggers for concurrent languages such as Erlang.
