Biomimetic Fibrinogen Nanofiber Scaffolds for Vascular Hematopoietic Stem Cell Niche Engineering

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents an advanced in vitro model of the vascular hematopoietic stem cell niche using self‐assembled fibrinogen nanofibers, mimicking the basement membrane in bone marrow (BM) sinusoids. The model supports the coculture of microvascular endothelial cells, stromal cells, and hematopoietic stem and progenitor cells, providing insights into ...

Design of Biphenyl-Substituted Diarylpyrimidines with a Cyanomethyl Linker as HIV-1 NNRTIs via a Molecular Hybridization Strategy

open access: yesMolecules, 2020
The key problems of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) therapy are the rapid emergence of drug-resistant mutant strains and significant cumulative drug toxicities.

New Insights into Atonic Postpartum Hemorrhage: Animal Model Construction Based on Placental Nanodelivery Systems

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This study develops a placenta‐targeted nanodelivery system co‐loading HMGB1 protein and the NLRP3 agonist nigericin to establish an animal model of atonic postpartum hemorrhage. The model accurately recapitulates clinical phenotypes, including prolonged labor and uterine contractility dysfunction, while revealing inflammatory activation in placental ...

Challenges in Initiating Antiretroviral Therapy in 2010

open access: yesCanadian Journal of Infectious Diseases and Medical Microbiology, 2010
Many clinical trials have shown that initiating antiretroviral therapy (ART) at higher rather than lower CD4 T cell-positive counts results in survival benefit.

Enhancing Magnetic Hyperthermia at the Cell Membrane by Anchoring 92R‐Functionalized Magnetic Nanoparticles to Low‐Endocytic CCR9 Surface Receptors

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
We present a strategy to enhance magnetic hyperthermia therapy by modulating nanoparticle–cell interactions. Antibody‐functionalized magnetic nanoparticles targeting the low‐internalizing CCR9 receptor enable spatially controlled membrane anchoring, reducing aggregation and maximizing heat generation under alternating magnetic fields.

Binding of Dumbbell Oligonucleotides to MoMuLV Reverse Transcriptase: Inhibitory Properties of RNase H Activity

open access: yesE-Journal of Chemistry, 2010
Dumbbell oligonucleotides with loops of various chemistry were synthesized. Incubation of dumbbell oligonucleotides containing phosphorothioate bonds or trimethylene phosphate linkages in loops with S1 nuclease did not result in significant cleavage ...

Fibrillar Bundles as Fibrous Filler Materials for Attaining Cell Anisotropy in Bioprinting

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Fibrillar bundles are introduced as a bioprintable additive that enables robust and scalable cellular alignment within 3D constructs through flow‐induced orientation during extrusion. These fibers support strong cell adhesion and polarization across various cell types and significantly enhance myotube alignment in Gelatine‐Methacryloyl (GelMA ...

Full-Spectrum Surveillance of Pre-Treatment HIV Drug Resistance in Southeastern China

open access: yesPharmaceuticals
HIV drug resistance compromises the ability of anti-retroviral therapy (ART) to suppress viral replication, resulting in treatment failure. This study investigates the prevalence of pre-treatment drug resistance (PDR) in newly diagnosed individuals in a ...

Nonnucleoside Reverse Transcriptase Inhibitor Resistance [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndromes, 2001
Although understanding of nonnucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NNRTI) resistance is less clearly established than that of other classes of antiretroviral drugs, certain facts have been established. The treatment-associated genetic mutation profiles of the available NNRTIs have been mapped, and resistance has been found to develop rapidly ...

siRNA Delivery via Cross‐Linked Gelatin Microparticles Enables Targeted Modulation of Osteogenic‐Vascular Cross‐Talk: An Advanced Human 3D in Vitro Test System for Therapeutic siRNA

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Osteogenic‐angiogenic cross‐talk is a vital prerequisite for vascularized bone regeneration. In this study, we investigated the effects of siRNA‐mediated silencing of two inhibitory proteins, Chordin and WWP‐1, via CaP‐NP‐loaded gelatin microparticles in osteogenically differentiated microtissues.
