On Simulation of Bend/Reverse Bend of Sheet Metals

Manufacturing Science and Engineering, 1999
Abstract Bend/reverse bend tests are performed with a three-point bend test apparatus on two types of sheet metals, mild steel and high strength steel. The bend/reverse bend process tends to a steady cycle upon applying repeated cycles of displacements. Strain hardening and Bauschinger effects for both materials are detected.

Reduction of Springback in V-Bending by a Reverse Bend Approach

SAE Technical Paper Series, 2005
<div class="htmlview paragraph">The deformation mechanics of springback phenomenon in the V-bending of sheets was investigated by the finite element analysis. The axial stress distribution in the bent sheet was classified into three zones: the bending zone under the punch corner (zone I), unbending zone next to the bending zone (zone II), and the

Reversible Laser-Induced Bending of Pseudorotaxane Crystals

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2017
This study investigated the dynamic photoresponse of pseudorotaxane crystals with azobenzene and ferrocenyl groups in the axle component. X-ray crystallography showed pseudorotaxanes with a methylazobenzene group and a dibromophenylene ring in the cyclic component to exhibit twisting of the trans-azobenzene groups at torsion angles of 17° and 38 ...

Fracture of Ductile Pipelines Subjected to Bending and Reverse Bending Loads

Journal of Offshore Mechanics and Arctic Engineering, 1998
Closed-form solutions for the elastic-plastic deformation and fracture responses of an offshore pipeline during reeling and unreeling operations are derived. As an example, an API 5L X52 pipeline of thickness 25.4 mm (1 in.) and outer diameter 406 mm (16 in.) bent over a drum radius of 16.5 m (54 ft) and then straightened back to its original ...
