Metasurfaces and other structured photonic environments can dramatically modify the absorption and/or light emission of semiconductors. However, the consequences of these changes on the temperature of the system are not well understood. The authors address this problem for colloidal nanocrystals and leverage their findings to convert light into ...

Novel effects in reverse-saturable absorbers
The response of reverse-saturable dyes, since it is associated with electronic transitions, can be extremely fast, and consequently there have been proposals for the application of these dyes to laser mode locking, pulse shaping, and optical limiting. We

Soret reverse saturable absorption of graphene oxide and its application in random lasers
In the past, carbon-based materials have shown both saturable and reverse saturable absorption, and most recently among them, the optical limiting behavior of graphene and graphene oxide caused by nonlinear scattering or fast nonlinear absorption effects,

MXene Wrapped Magnetic Mesocrystals for Durable Redox Catalytic Cancer Therapy and Responsive MRI
Conformal wrapping of ultrathin Ti3C2Tx MXene nanosheets on Fe3O4 mesocrystals creates topology‐stabilized Schottky junctions that direct photoinduced electron transfer under NIR irradiation. The unique architecture sustains Fenton catalysis, promotes continuous hydroxyl radical production, and provides photo‐responsive MRI contrast.

Spectral dependence of third-order susceptibility of Au triangular nanoplates
We experimentally investigated the spectral dependence of the third-order susceptibility $$\chi^{\left( 3 \right)}$$ χ 3 of Au triangular nanoplates in a broad wavelength region (400–1,000 nm).

An architecture‐enabled bottom‐heated 3D solar convective evaporator spatially decouples photothermal heating from evaporation, triggering natural convection that intensifies sidewall vapour removal and heat transfer. The system achieves significantly enhanced evaporation rates over 2D and conventional 3D designs while confining salt precipitation to ...

Bandgap‐engineered AlGaAs/GaAs heterostructures exhibit wavelength‐selective dual‐polarity photoelectrochemistry, switching from photocathodic to photoanodic response depending on excitation wavelength. The polarity transition is governed by band‐selective absorption, built‐in electric‐field‐driven carrier transport, and interfacial charge‐transfer ...
