RNA Binding Domain of Telomerase Reverse Transcriptase

open access: yes, 2001
Telomerase is a ribonucleoprotein reverse transcriptase that extends the ends of chromosomes. The two telomerase subunits essential for catalysis in vitro are the telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) and the telomerase RNA.

Tumor‐Infiltrating mregDCs Restrain Anti‐Tumor Immunity in Early Relapse HCC

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Tumor‐infiltrating mregDCs are regulated by the TNFR2‐non‐canonical NF‐κB axis, which is mediated by TNF‐α secreted by CD161+CD8+ T cells. These mregDCs recruit CD161+CD8+ T cells via the CCL20‐CCR6 axis, forming a positive feedback loop that enhances immunosuppression, promotes early recurrence of HCC, and further confirms TNFR2 as a key therapeutic ...

Lamarck and immunity: Somatic and germline evolution of antibody genes

open access: yes, 2009
Current work on the mechanism of hypermutation of somatically rearranged antibody variable (V) genes shows that the most likely mechanism involves both direct DNA modification (deamination of cytosines to uracils by AID deaminase) and strand nicking plus

NFYB Integrates Hormonal Signals into Tissue Allometry by Promoting Protein Biosynthesis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In the American cockroach, NFYB acts as a spatiotemporin that translates distinct hormonal cues into tissue‐specific allometry. Juvenile hormone activates NFYB in the early fat body, while 20‐hydroxyecdysone induces it in late wing pads. NFYB then promotes protein biosynthesis via core translational machinery, driving differential growth across the ...

A comparison between abacavir and efavirenz as the third drug used in combination with a background therapy regimen of 2 nucleoside reverse-transcriptase inhibitors in patients with initially suppressed viral loads

open access: yes, 2006
Background. Our objective was to compare the rate of viral rebound and therapy failure in patients receiving abacavir or efavirenz as the third drug ( in addition to 2 non-abacavir nucleosides) in combination antiretroviral therapy ( cART) and to compare

Single‐Cell Annotation and Localization via Integrating Spatial Transcriptomics Maps the Mouse Ocular Atlas and RAO Dynamics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We developed the ASCAL pipeline, integrating complementary spatial transcriptomics, to construct a high‐fidelity mouse whole‐eye single‐cell atlas. Applying ASCAL to a retinal artery occlusion (RAO) model revealed spatially restricted immune activation localized to the ganglion cell layer and the selective depletion of a translationally active, outer ...

HIV-1 Reverse transcriptase structures

open access: yes, 2013
© 2013 Elsevier Inc. All rights reserved. The reverse transcriptase (RT) of human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is the multifunctional enzyme responsible for the conversion of the single-stranded viral RNA genome into double-stranded DNA (dsDNA) that is ...

Stem Cell Differentiation Disperses Transcriptional Clusters via a Conserved Surface‐Condensate Trajectory

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Stem cell differentiation follows a conserved surface condensate trajectory: H3K27ac super enhancers nucleate large RNA polymerase II clusters that grow and unfold before transcriptional activity disperses them. This work reveals how biophysical forces at enhancer surfaces dynamically build and dismantle stem cell transcription hubs, reshaping cell ...

Thermostable Bioluminescent Intercalating Dyes for Real‐Time, Integrated Nucleic Acid Amplification and Detection

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
We present a bioluminescent diagnostic platform that integrates DNA amplification and detection in a single step. The engineering of thermostable luciferase‐intercalating dye conjugates and controlled release of caged luciferin substrates enable real‐time, detection of attomolar concentrations of viral DNA within 30 min.
