Characterization of an embedded RF-MEMS switch [PDF]

open access: yes2010 Topical Meeting on Silicon Monolithic Integrated Circuits in RF Systems (SiRF), 2010
An RF-MEMS capacitive switch for mm-wave integrated circuits, embedded in the BEOL of 0.25µm BiCMOS process, has been characterized. First, a mechanical model based on Finite-Element-Method (FEM) was developed by taking the residual stress of the thin film membrane into account.

Development of a spring-less RF MEMS switch. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
This thesis reports on the development of a novel 77GHz low loss MEMS switch with a mechanically unrestrained armature, over a RF transmitting coplanar waveguide. Electrostatic actuation is used during the switching operation. The attractive force from the electrostatic field is generated by a pair of the actuation electrodes on both sides of the ...

RF MEMS waveguide switch

2004 IEEE MTT-S International Microwave Symposium Digest (IEEE Cat. No.04CH37535), 2004
In this paper, a unique concept for RF MEMS waveguide switches is introduced. The proposed structure employs a ridge waveguide integrated with MEMS actuators. The switch combines the advantages of MEMS technology with the high power handling capability of waveguide technology. It also promises to be useful in high frequency applications 100-200 GHz. In

MEMS TECHNOLOGY FOR RF SWITCHES

Sensors and Microsystems, 2004
In the last years there was an increasing interest in micromachined RF switches, mainly in the communication and space industries. This article describes a fabrication process used for the development of electrostatically actuated MEMS RF switches operating in the 2 - 40 GHz range.
