Innovative RF MEMS switches on GaAs

2010 14th International Symposium on Antenna Technology and Applied Electromagnetics & the American Electromagnetics Conference, 2010
RF-MEMS is an emerging area of MEMS technology that is revolutionizing RF- and microwave applications. RF-MEMS devices have a broad range of applications in military and commercial wireless communication, navigation and sensor systems. Agile RF-systems require reconfigurable frontends that can steer the beam over a wide frequency range.

Analysis and simulation of RF MEMS switch

2008 8th International Symposium on Antennas, Propagation and EM Theory, 2008
Along with the fast development of the automotive electronics technology, the wireless communication technique on vehicles has huge market potential. This paper takes the cantilever beam MEMS switch as an example to discuss mechanical principle and function simulation of the RF MEMS switch used in Vehicle-carried radio frequency communication.

Investigating the Performance of RF MEMS Switches

2006 IEEE International Conference on Semiconductor Electronics, 2006
The performance of micro-electro-mechanical system (MEMS) metal switches were investigated at wide temperature range. Measurements were carried out using cryogenic probe station and S-parameters were taken using a network analyser for frequencies up to 20 GHz. A total of 28 switches were evaluated.

Scalability of Capacitive RF MEMS Switches

2001
MEMS capacitive shunt switches have attracted large interest in various microwave or mm-wave applications, such as low power communication systems or phased arrayed antennas [1,2,3]. Two types of RF MEMS switches are discussed with respect to their impedance matching, scalability in frequency and related mechanical limitations.

Performance and Dynamics of a RF MEMS Switch

2001
A torsional RF-switch with low actuation voltage for use in mobile communication is presented. The device is fabricated in a BiCMOS compatible process with an additional back-end electroplating procedure. Electrical characterization from DC up to 6 GHz has been performed showing good RF characteristics. Optical measurements of the first resonance modes

RF MEMS switches: status of the technology

TRANSDUCERS '03. 12th International Conference on Solid-State Sensors, Actuators and Microsystems. Digest of Technical Papers (Cat. No.03TH8664), 2004
This paper presents the latest accomplishments in RF MEMS switches, and at the same time, an assessment of their potential applications in defense and commercial systems. It is seen that RF MEMS devices offer spectacular performance at microwave frequencies, but suffer from reliability problems and the potential of relatively high-cost hermetic ...

Charge trap investigation methodology on RF-MEMS switches

2011
We hereby discuss effects and consequences of using certain measurements approaches on the charge trap analysis of RF-MEMS switches during cycling tests. We analyze how measurements are affected when the shape of the pulse changes, when the cycling frequency decrease and when measurements are carried out as a function of temperature.
