Epidemiological studies have shown1–3 that the plasma concentration of LDL cholesterol and apolipoprotein B-100 are positively correlated with the incidence of coronary artery disease. ApoB-100 is believed to have an important role in the alteration of lipid metabolism that may lead to premature atherosclerosis2,4. Apolipoprotein B-100 is the molecular

RFLP inheritance and linkage in walnut
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1994Thirty-two low-copy-number genomic DNA clones from a walnut (Juglans sp.) Pst I genomic library were used to establish a molecular-marker linkage map for walnut. The clones were hybridized to restriction-endonuclease-digested DNA from parent walnut trees involved in an interspecific backcross of (J. hindsii x J. regia) x J.

An Illustrated Guide to RFLP Troubleshooting
Journal of Forensic Sciences, 1998Abstract A large number of reagents and steps are required for restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP) analysis, which at times make determining the cause of any observed anomaly difficult. Troubleshooting problems in RFLP analysis is difficult and often the exact cause of a problem cannot be determined.

The soybean is one of the oldest cultivated crops. It first emerged as a domesticated plant around the 11th century B.C. (Hymowitz 1970), although references to soybean appear in books written over 4500 years ago (Smith and Huyser 1987). The soybean was first planted in the United States in Thunderbolt, GA, in 1765 (Hymowitz and Harlan 1983).

Construction of an RFLP map of barley
Theoretical and Applied Genetics, 1991In order to construct an RFLP map of barley, two populations were analyzed using 251 genomic and cDNA markers: one population comprised 71 F1 antherderived double haploid (DH) individuals of an intraspecific cross (IGRI x FRANKA), and the other 135 individuals of an interspecific F2/F3 progeny (VADA x H. spontaneum).

Barley, Hordeum vulgare L., is among the oldest cultivated crops dating 5000 to 7000 years B.C. (Clark 1967; Harlan 1976, 1979) and perhaps much older (Wendorf et al. 1979). Barley has also been a favorite genetic experimental organism since the rediscovery of Mendel’s laws of heredity (Tschermak 1901; cited from Smith 1951).

Determination of HCV Genotypes by RFLP
2003Several different methods have been developed for the typing of HCV variants: direct sequence analysis, slot-blot hybridization analysis of reverse transcriptase-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) products using cDNA probes specific to each HCV genotype and PCR amplification using type-specific primers that are designed to match only virus sequences of

The Southern Blot component of the Tenth Workshop focused on the study of 70 cell lines. Thirty-four different DR, DQ, Dw haplotypes emerged from serologic and cellular typings. The RFLP analysis demonstrated that these haplotypes could be clearly defined using the Southern blot technique.
