Turning Green Into Gold: The Impact of Green Intellectual Capital on Performance in European Firms

open access: yesBusiness Strategy and the Environment, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study examines the impact of green intellectual capital (GIC)—green human, structural and relational capital—on business performance in European firms. Using Eurobarometer 498 data and Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modelling (PLS‐SEM), results show that GIC explains 15.4% of the variance in business performance, with green ...

Random Feature Maps via a Layered Random Projection (LaRP) Framework for Object Classification

open access: yes, 2016
The approximation of nonlinear kernels via linear feature maps has recently gained interest due to their applications in reducing the training and testing time of kernel-based learning algorithms.

PharmVar GeneFocus: NAT2—Genetic Variation and Updated Nomenclature

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
The Pharmacogene Variation Consortium (PharmVar) provides nomenclature for the highly polymorphic human N‐acetyltransferase 2 (NAT2) gene. NAT2 metabolizes several clinically used drugs including isoniazid, hydralazine, amifampridine, procainamide, and sulfonamides such as dapsone, and also some highly carcinogenic arylamines.

The nonlinear connection between relative fat mass and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease in the Japanese population: an analysis based on data from a cross-sectional study

open access: yesDiabetology & Metabolic Syndrome
Background Relative fat mass (RFM) is a newly developed, sex-specific anthropometric formula designed to estimate total body fat percentage. However, research investigating the correlation between RFM and the risk of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease ...

Optimal Translation Along a Circular mRNA

open access: yes, 2017
The ribosome flow model on a ring (RFMR) is a deterministic model for translation of a circularized mRNA. We derive a new spectral representation for the optimal steady-state production rate and the corresponding optimal steady-state ribosomal density in

Spontaneous necrotic enteritis in young RFM/Ms mice [PDF]

open access: yesLaboratory Animals, 1986
Fatal necrotic enteritis was observed in mice 24-52 days old in the RFM/Ms breeding colony maintained in a clean conventional condition in the National Institute of Radiological Sciences. Gross lesions included hyperaemia, petechiae, erosion and the occasional formation of pseudomembranes in the mucosa of the ileum and caecum.

Does the Application Flow Rate of Nutrient Solutions Prepared in Brackish Water Affect Coriander Production?

open access: yesIrrigation and Drainage, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Flow rates for applying nutrient solutions in hydroponic systems are empirically known, yet uncertainties remain regarding whether brackish water affects the optimal flow rate and, consequently, biomass production and allocation. This study evaluated whether variations in application flow rate affect coriander biomass when brackish water is ...

Association between relative fat mass and risk of gallstones in adults

open access: yesScientific Reports
Gallstones (GS) are closely associated with obesity. The body mass index (BMI) is the most commonly used index for evaluating obesity. However, BMI does not consider the distribution of adipose tissue and does not differentiate between differences in fat
