Absence of Pupillary Reflexes in Pediatric Acute Liver Failure and Neurological Outcome After Liver Transplantation

open access: yesPediatric Transplantation, Volume 29, Issue 3, May 2025.
We analyzed a retrospective, observational cohort of 51 patients with pediatric acute liver failure with severe hepatic encephalopathy (grade III‐IV), admitted between 1993 and 2023. The survival rate in patients with present PR was higher compared to patients with absent PR (70% and 29%, respectively).

Ribonuclease 1 Induces T‐Cell Dysfunction and Impairs CD8+ T‐Cell Cytotoxicity to Benefit Tumor Growth through Hijacking STAT1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 13, April 3, 2025.
T‐cell immunotherapy eliminates cancer growth by activating T cells, but immunosuppressive factors hinders their effectiveness, resulting in treatment failure. Here, ribonuclease 1 (RNase1) causes T‐cell dysfunction and promotes exhausted T‐cell signatures in cancers.

Pericytes Promote More Vascularization than Stromal Cells via an Interleukin‐6‐Dependent Mechanism in Microfluidic Chips

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 14, April 10, 2025.
This study shows how selected pericytes outperform stromal cells in promoting angiogenesis as well as vasculogenesis in a microfluidic organ‐on‐a‐chip platform and by whole mRNA sequencing. It demonstrates how pericyte extracellular vesicles, and more specifically interleukin‐6, mediate this angiogenic stimulation.

Vitamin C‐Dependent Intergenerational Inheritance of Enhanced Endurance Performance Following Maternal Exercise

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 13, April 3, 2025.
This article demonstrates that maternal exercise or vitamin C supplementation during pregnancy enhance offspring muscle function by promoting mitochondrial biogenesis and oxidative fiber formation. This epigenetically driven improvement ultimately leads to higher endurance performance, strongly suggesting that sufficient maternal physical activity can ...

TP53 Mutations in Myeloproliferative Neoplasms: Context‐Dependent Evaluation of Prognostic Relevance

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, Volume 100, Issue 4, Page 552-560, April 2025.
ABSTRACT The clinical relevance of TP53 mutations (TP53 MUT ) in myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN) and their prognostic interaction with MPN subtype designation has not been systematically studied. In the current study, 114 patients with MPN harboring TP53 MUT (VAF ≥ 2%) were evaluated for overall survival (OS), calculated from the time of TP53 MUT ...
