A Novel, Divergent Member of the Rhabdoviridae Family Infects Strawberry

Plant Disease, 2023
Strawberry (Fragaria × ananassa) is the most important berry crop worldwide and viruses pose a constant threat to the industry. In this communication, we describe a novel virus in the family Rhabdoviridae referred to as strawberry virus 3 (StrV-3). The virus does not show significant homology when compared with recognized rhabdoviruses and, therefore,

Serological evidence of infection of dogs and man in Nigeria by lyssaviruses (family Rhabdoviridae)

Transactions of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene, 1990
A survey was conducted for serum neutralizing antibodies against 3 members of the Lyssavirus group (rabies, Lagos bat and Mokola viruses) in Nigerian dogs and humans. Of 463 unvaccinated dogs sampled, 142 (30.7%) had antibodies against rabies; 39.2% of the stray dogs were positive.

Genomic characterisation of Cuiaba and Charleville viruses: arboviruses (family Rhabdoviridae, genus Sripuvirus) infecting reptiles and amphibians

Virus Genes, 2018
Viruses in the family Rhabdoviridae are ecologically very diverse, infecting mammals, birds, reptiles, fish, plants and a wide range of other terrestrial and aquatic invertebrates. The genus Sripuvirus currently comprises five viruses that appear to circulate in transmission cycles involving reptiles and sandflies.

Infection Rates and Comparative Population Dynamics ofPeregrinus maidis(Hemiptera: Delphacidae) on Corn Plants With and Without Symptoms of Maize Mosaic Virus (Rhabdoviridae: Nucleorhabdovirus) Infection

Environmental Entomology, 2013
We examined the population dynamics of the corn planthopper Peregrinus maidis (Ashmead) (Hemiptera: Delphacidae) throughout a cycle of corn (Zea mays L.) production on plants with or without symptoms of maize mosaic virus (MMV) (Rhabdoviridae: Nucleorhabdovirus) infection.

Alpha- and Betagymnorhavirus: two new genera of gymnosperm-infecting viruses in the family Rhabdoviridae, subfamily Betarhabdovirinae

Archives of Virology
The family Rhabdoviridae includes viruses with a negative-sense RNA genome. This family is divided into four subfamilies, and until recently, the subfamily Betarhabdovirinae, encompassing all plant-associated rhabdoviruses, was further divided into six genera.
