Illuminating the Dark: Using eDNA Metabarcoding to Study the Unique Ichthyofauna of the Furnas Formation Sinkholes

open access: yesEnvironmental DNA, Volume 7, Issue 4, July–August 2025.
Using eDNA metabarcoding, we assessed fish diversity in isolated sinkholes in southern Brazil, uncovering signs of local extinction and species persistence. This approach offers a non‐invasive tool for biodiversity assessment and informs conservation efforts in unique karst environments.

Antagonistic Rewiring and Turnover Patterns in a Neotropical Fish–Parasite Metanetwork

open access: yesFreshwater Biology, Volume 70, Issue 7, July 2025.
ABSTRACT Integrating beta‐diversity and network analyses is an emerging approach for understanding the spatial structure of species communities. For instance, although the presence of hosts affects parasite species distribution, environmental factors can either restrict or promote the occurrence of certain parasite species by changing the abundance of ...

Biologia reprodutiva e desova induzida de duas espécies de bagres (Osteichthyes: Siluriformes) da bacia do rio São Francisco = Reproductive biology and induced spawning of two catfish species (Osteichthyes: Siluriformes) from the São Francisco river basin

open access: yesActa Scientiarum: Biological Sciences, 2006

Subchronic effects of dipyrone on the fish species Rhamdia quelen

open access: yesEcotoxicology and Environmental Safety, 2011
The use of the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs such as dipyrone is so widespread that this drug and its metabolites have been detected in effluents and surface water. This study aimed to evaluate the potential toxic effects of dipyrone on the aquatic environment, using a native fish species, Rhamdia quelen.
