Rhamnolipid CMC prediction

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2017
Relationships between the purity, pH, hydrophobicity (logKow) of the carbon substrate, and the critical micelle concentration (CMC) of rhamnolipid type biosurfactants (RL) were investigated using a quantitative structure-property relationship (QSPR) approach and are presented here for the first time.

Characterisation of Pseudomonas rhamnolipids

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Lipids and Lipid Metabolism, 1990
The Gram negative organism, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, is often found in the lungs of patients with cystic fibrosis and other forms of severe bronchiectasis, where it secretes a number of extracellular toxins including the mono- and dirhamnolipids. The principal monorhamnolipid from P.

Rhamnolipids—Next generation surfactants?

Journal of Biotechnology, 2012
The demand for bio-based processes and materials in the petrochemical industry has significantly increased during the last decade because of the expected running out of petroleum. This trend can be ascribed to three main causes: (1) the increased use of renewable resources for chemical synthesis of already established product classes, (2) the ...

Formulating Alcohol‐Free Microemulsions Using Rhamnolipid Biosurfactant and Rhamnolipid Mixtures

Journal of Surfactants and Detergents, 2008
AbstractThis research focused on developing alcohol‐free biosurfactant‐based microemulsions. Rhamnolipid‐based mixtures were found to have double the solubilization parameter as compared to sodium bis(2‐ethyl) dihexyl sulfosuccinate/sodium dihexyl sulfosuccinate/sodium mono‐ and dimethyl naphthalene sulfonate at the same total molar concentration.

Unveiling the mono-rhamnolipid and di-rhamnolipid mechanisms of action upon plasma membrane models

Journal of Colloid and Interface Science, 2022
Rhamnolipids (RLs) are biosurfactants with significant tensioactive and emulsifying properties. They are mainly composed by mono-RL and di-RL components. Although there are numerous studies concerning their molecular properties, information is scarce regarding the mechanisms by which each of the two components interacts with cell membranes.

The true methodology for rhamnolipid: Various solvents affect rhamnolipid characteristics

European Journal of Lipid Science and Technology, 2017
Rhamnolipid, among the most effective biosurfactants, is a glycolipid‐type biosurfactant primarily produced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa. In this study, rhamnolipid production was carried out using a strain of P. aeruginosa and it is aimed to compare rhamnolipid biopolymers obtained from various extraction methods using glycine (RG), hydrochloric acid (RH)

Production of rhamnolipid biosurfactants

1995
Biosurfactants are of increasing interest due to their broad range of potential applications. A large variety of microbial surfactants is known at present, some of which may be used for specific applications. Towards the large scale industrial production of biosurfactants, the physiology, biochemistry and genetics of biosurfactant synthesis has to be ...

Rhamnolipid biosurfactant mixtures for environmental remediation

Water Research, 2008
This study investigated the efficiency of rhamnolipid biosurfactant and synthetic surfactant mixtures for improving the interfacial activity of the surfactant system against several light non-aqueous-phase liquids (LNAPLs). Since the rhamnolipid biosurfactant proved to be relatively hydrophilic, we hypothesized that mixtures of rhamnolipid ...

Production of Rhamnolipids

2018
Presently, more concern is being paid towards compilation of various strategies and conditions for rhamnolipids biosurfactant production. The present chapter emphasizes the various strategies and conditions for biosurfactant production including rhamnolipids which are the major class of biosurfactants.

Comparison of mono‐rhamnolipids and di‐rhamnolipids on microbial enhanced oil recovery (MEOR) applications

Biotechnology Progress, 2020
Abstract Rhamnolipids (RMLs) have more effectiveness for specific uses according to their homologue proportions. Thus, the novelty of this work was to compare mono‐RMLs and di‐RMLs physicochemical properties on microbial enhanced oil recovery (MEOR) applications. For this, RML produced by three strains of
