Conformation of HIV-1 Envelope Governs Rhesus CD4 Usage and Simian-Human Immunodeficiency Virus Replication

open access: yesmBio, 2022
Infection of rhesus macaques with simian-human immunodeficiency viruses (SHIVs) is the preferred model system for vaccine development because SHIVs encode human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1) envelope glycoproteins (Envs)—a key target of HIV-1 ...

Zinc Exposure Causes Disulfidptosis to Induce Miscarriage by Up‐Regulating GATA1/METTL1/SLC7A11 Axis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Zn exposure up‐regulates GATA1, promoting GATA1‐mediated METTL1 and SLC7A11 transcription. It also enhances METTL1‐mediated m7G modification on SLC7A11 mRNA, increasing SLC7A11 mRNA stability. Ultimately, Zn exposure up‐regulates SLC7A11 at both transcriptional and post‐transcriptional levels, causing disulfidptosis. Knockdown of murine Slc7a11, Gata1,

Worse Health Status and Higher Incidence of Health Disorders in Rhesus Negative Subjects. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2015
Rhesus-positive and Rhesus-negative persons differ in the presence-absence of highly immunogenic RhD protein on the erythrocyte membrane. The biological function of the RhD molecule is unknown.

Do rhesus monkeys recognize themselves in mirrors?

open access: yes, 2011
Self-recognition continues to attract attention because of the evidence of a striking difference between the great apes and humans, on the one hand, and all other primates; the former are capable of self-recognition, whereas no compelling evidence exists

RNF138‐Mediated Ubiquitination and Degradation of NS5 Restricts Tick‐Borne Encephalitis Virus Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Host‐specific compatibility between RNF138‐like proteins and flavivirus NS5 determines NS5 stability. Mammalian RNF138 but not arthropod homologs recognizes and induces conserved NS5/RdRp K48‐linked ubiquitination and proteasomal degradation, thereby restricting viral replication. Ectopic RNF138 in mice attenuates TBEV‐induced pathogenesis. (Created in

Better 10‐Year Cerebrovascular Outcome After Transplant Than on Standard‐Care in Sickle Cell Anemia: DREPAGREFFE Trial

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Hematology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Management of cerebral vasculopathy in sickle cell anemia (SCA) includes standard‐care, that is, chronic transfusion (CT) or hydroxyurea, and hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT). DREPAGREFFE‐1 (December 2010/June 2013), a French multicenter trial, was the first prospective trial comparing standard‐care to match sibling donor (MSD)‐HCT in ...
