Sex-specific heritability of spontaneous lipid levels in an extended pedigree of Indian-origin rhesus macaques (Macaca mulatta). [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2013
The rhesus macaque is an important model for human atherosclerosis but genetic determinants of relevant phenotypes have not yet been investigated in this species.

Variable grouping patterns in primates: A test of the better competitor hypothesis in male Verreaux's sifaka (Propithecus verreauxi)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Intraspecific variation in social organization (IVSO) within primate populations can arise due to male mating competition. Verreaux's sifaka (Propithecus verreauxi) populations exhibit both single‐male and multi‐male groups, providing an opportunity to examine the relationship between male competitive ability and social organization.

Prediction of Human Serum Concentration–Time Profiles of Golimumab and Ustekinumab Using Pharmacokinetic Data From Common Marmosets With Assessment of Anti‐Drug Antibodies

open access: yesBiopharmaceutics &Drug Disposition, EarlyView.
This study identified new optimal allometric scaling exponents for human PK prediction of monoclonal antibodies with linear PKs from marmoset PK data. In addition, immunogenicity in common marmosets was evaluated following the repeated dose of golimumab and ustekinumab, minimal anti‐drug antibodies were detected.

Pooled genomic indexing of rhesus macaque [PDF]

open access: yesGenome Research, 2005
Pooled genomic indexing (PGI) is a method for mapping collections of bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) clones between species by using a combination of clone pooling and DNA sequencing. PGI has been used to map a total of 3858 BAC clones covering ∼24% of the rhesus macaque (Macaca mulatta) genome onto 4178 homologous loci in the human genome.

Paternity testing for crab‐eating macaques and rhesus macaques using microsatellite markers

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine
Accurate macaque paternity identification is of great significance in various fields, yet relevant research remains scarce. Our study aimed to screen effective microsatellite markers for macaque paternity testing.

Viral Dynamic Model‐Informed Dose Selection of Mosnodenvir Prophylaxis against DENV‐3 in a Controlled Human Infection Model

open access: yesClinical Pharmacology &Therapeutics, EarlyView.
Dengue virus (DENV) infection is a significant global health threat. Mosnodenvir (JNJ‐64281802) is a pan‐serotype small molecule antiviral blocking DENV replication. A Phase IIa study (NCT05048875) evaluated the antiviral activity, safety, and pharmacokinetics of mosnodenvir as prophylaxis against DENV‐3 in a controlled human infection model (CHIM).

Neutrophil progenitor populations of rhesus macaques [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Leukocyte Biology, 2018
Abstract Captive-bred rhesus macaques of Indian origin represent one of the most important large animal models for infectious disease, solid organ transplantation, and stem cell research. There is a dearth of information defining hematopoietic development, including neutrophil leukocyte differentiation in this species using multicolor ...

Pioneering the canine model in microbiota–gut–brain research for social and affective disorders

open access: yesiMetaOmics, EarlyView.
This commentary highlights the translational potential of canine models in investigating the microbiota–gut–brain (MGB) axis, focusing on their relevance to human social cognition and affective disorders, including major depressive disorder and autism spectrum disorder.

Harnessing cracks in metal films: Design strategies for stretchable conductors

open access: yesInfoMat, EarlyView.
In stretchable electronics, metal film‐based components function either as strain‐insensitive interconnects/electrodes or as strain‐sensitive sensors, both of which are governed by crack‐induced electromechanical responses, yet these two roles have often been discussed separately in previous reviews.

Brain Charts for the Rhesus Macaque Lifespan

open access: yes
Abstract Recent efforts to chart human brain growth across the lifespan using large-scale MRI data have provided reference standards for human brain development. However, similar models for nonhuman primate (NHP) growth are lacking.
