Radioimmunoassay for Rhesus Monkey Gonadotropins

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1975
Heterologous double-antibody radioimmunoassay methods are described for the measurement of circulating levels of rhesus monkey (Macaca mulatta) FSH and LH; the latter assay is also applicable to rhesus chorionic gonadotropin (CG) estimations. The FSH assay utilizes purified rat FSH for trace, either of two anti-human FSH antisera and a semipurified ...

Strategies for inducing diabetes in laboratory animals: Advances from chemical, surgical, immunologic, dietary, and genetic approaches

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
This review summarizes the principal experimental approaches used to induce diabetes in animal models. Strategies include chemical agents (streptozotocin, alloxan, dithizone, gold thioglucose), dietary interventions (high‐fat and high‐sugar diets), surgical methods (total or partial pancreatectomy), genetic models (db/db, ob/ob, Goto‐Kakizaki [GK ...

A Rhesus Monkey Model of Non-suicidal Self-Injury

open access: yesFrontiers in Behavioral Neuroscience, 2021
Non-suicidal self-injury (NSSI) is a type of behavioral pathology seen not only in a variety of clinical conditions but also among non-clinical populations, particularly adolescents and young adults.

Variable grouping patterns in primates: A test of the better competitor hypothesis in male Verreaux's sifaka (Propithecus verreauxi)

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Intraspecific variation in social organization (IVSO) within primate populations can arise due to male mating competition. Verreaux's sifaka (Propithecus verreauxi) populations exhibit both single‐male and multi‐male groups, providing an opportunity to examine the relationship between male competitive ability and social organization.

ANK1 and EPB41 Variants and The Risk of Glucocorticoid‐Induced Osteonecrosis

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Steroid‐induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head (SONFH) is a refractory skeletal disorder influenced by genetic and environmental factors. However, conclusive pathogenic genetic evidence remains elusive due to the limited exploration of rare damaging variants. In this study, we aimed to identify rare variants associated with SONFH.

IL-11 and IL-11Rα immunolocalisation at primate implantation sites supports a role for IL-11 in placentation and fetal development

open access: yesReproductive Biology and Endocrinology, 2003
Embryo implantation, endometrial stromal cell decidualization and formation of a functional placenta are critical processes in the establishment and maintenance of pregnancy. Interleukin (IL)-11 signalling is essential for adequate decidualization in the

Calorie restriction in rhesus monkeys [PDF]

open access: yesExperimental Gerontology, 2003
Calorie restriction (CR) extends lifespan and reduces the incidence and age of onset of age-related disease in several animal models. To determine if this nutritional intervention has similar actions in a long-lived primate species, the National Institute on Aging (NIA) initiated a study in 1987 to investigate the effects of a 30% CR in male and female

Prediction of Human Serum Concentration–Time Profiles of Golimumab and Ustekinumab Using Pharmacokinetic Data From Common Marmosets With Assessment of Anti‐Drug Antibodies

open access: yesBiopharmaceutics &Drug Disposition, EarlyView.
This study identified new optimal allometric scaling exponents for human PK prediction of monoclonal antibodies with linear PKs from marmoset PK data. In addition, immunogenicity in common marmosets was evaluated following the repeated dose of golimumab and ustekinumab, minimal anti‐drug antibodies were detected.

Harnessing cracks in metal films: Design strategies for stretchable conductors

open access: yesInfoMat, EarlyView.
In stretchable electronics, metal film‐based components function either as strain‐insensitive interconnects/electrodes or as strain‐sensitive sensors, both of which are governed by crack‐induced electromechanical responses, yet these two roles have often been discussed separately in previous reviews.

Pathology of Measles in Rhesus Monkeys [PDF]

open access: yesVeterinary Pathology, 1971
Skin biopsies were taken from 16 monkeys with measles rash. Histopathological changes consisted of multinucleated epithelial giant cells in the epidermis and hair follicles, proliferative and degenerative changes of the epidermis, and mild inflammation of the dermis.
