Anti-citrullinated protein antibody positive rheumatoid arthritis is primarily determined by rheumatoid factor titre and the shared epitope rather than smoking per se. [PDF]
OBJECTIVE: To analyse the relationship between rheumatoid factor (RF) titre, smoking and HLA-DRB1 alleles coding a "shared epitope" (SE) in relation to anti-citrullinated protein antibody (ACPA) positivity in rheumatoid arthritis (RA).

Biologics May Prevent Cardiovascular Events in Rheumatoid Arthritis by Inhibiting Coronary Plaque Formation and Stabilizing High-Risk Lesions. [PDF]
ObjectiveTo evaluate whether biologic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs) decrease cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk in rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and whether biologic DMARDs might have a beneficial effect on coronary plaque formation or ...

TRIM38 Suppresses Breast Cancer Progression via Modulating SQSTM1 Ubiquitination and Autophagic Flux
TRIM38, an E3 ubiquitin ligase, suppresses breast cancer progression by inhibiting proliferation, migration, and invasion. Downregulated in breast tumor, its loss correlates with poor prognosis. Mechanistically, TRIM38 mediates K63‐linked ubiquitination of SQSTM1/p62 at K420, disrupting SQSTM1‐LC3 interaction and blocking autophagic flux.

Effects of the anti-RANKL antibody denosumab on joint structural damage in patients with rheumatoid arthritis treated with conventional synthetic disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DESIRABLE study): a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase 3 trial. [PDF]
ObjectiveTo evaluate the efficacy of denosumab in suppressing joint destruction when added to conventional synthetic disease-modifying antirheumatic drug (csDMARD) therapy in patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA).MethodsThis was a multi-centre ...

Traceless Regulation of Genetic Circuitry
Energy‐based, as opposed to molecular, control offers unprecedented improvements in key circuit parameters. This review summarizes the fundamentals of such traceless switches, categorizes them by trigger modalities, and compares and contrasts distinct advantages as well as shortcomings of each kind.

Driving chronicity in rheumatoid arthritis: perpetuating role of myeloid cells [PDF]
Acute inflammation is a complex and tightly regulated homeostatic process that includes leukocyte migration from the vasculature into tissues to eliminate the pathogen/injury, followed by a pro-resolving response promoting tissue repair.

Background: Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is an autoimmune disease associated with chronic inflammation of joints causing deformities and functional impairment. Rheumatoid factor (RF) is an autoantibody specific for the Fc portion of human IgG. RF has low specificity as high false positive results are common in the general population.

ABSTRACT Immune homeostasis is indispensable for preserving organismal integrity, orchestrated through complex molecular networks encompassing immune cell dynamics, microbial cues, and epigenetic regulation. Among these, the gut microbiota‐non‐coding RNA (ncRNA) axis has recently garnered substantial attention as a multifaceted modulator of host ...

This study uncovers a recipient‐derived monocyte‐to‐macrophage trajectory that drives inflammation during kidney transplant rejection. Using over 150 000 single‐cell profiles and more than 850 biopsies, the authors identify CXCL10+ macrophages as key predictors of graft loss.
