Pyoderma gangraenosum caused by Rhizopus arrhizus.
Mycoses, 1995A rare case of pyoderma gangraenosum caused by Rhizopus arrhizus is reported. The patient, a 50-year-old male farmer, was admitted to hospital complaining of gangrening and festering of the right upper arm with severe pain for nearly 2 months. A lesion was found on the inside of right upper arm.

Mycopathologia, 2015Neutropenic patients are at risk of the development of hyalohyphomycosis and mucormycosis. Correct identification is essential for the initiation of the specific treatment, but concomitant mold infections are rarely reported. We report one unprecedented case of concomitant mucormycosis and fusariosis in a neutropenic patient with acute myeloid leukemia.

Canadian Journal of Microbiology, 1972Individual amino acids (0.002 M) when added to Fothergill's medium stimulated the growth of Rhizopus arrhizus. Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology, 1999Biosorption of zinc ions by inactivated fungal mycelia was studied. Of the six fungal species, Rhizopus arrhizus, Mucor racemosus, Mycotypha africana, Aspergillus nidulans, Aspergillus niger and Schizosaccharomyces pombe, R. arrhizus exhibited the highest capacity (Q max = 213 μmol g−1 dry weight).
