Successful treatment of rhino-facial mucormycosis in a diabetic patient
Mucormycosis is a rapidly progressing and lethal infection caused by fungi of the order mucorales. The disease occurs mostly in patients with uncontrolled diabetes or other predisposing systemic conditions. We report a case of rhinofacial mucormycosis in

Electrophoretic and immunoblot analyses of Rhizopus arrhizus antigens [PDF]
Four antigen preparations from Rhizopus arrhizus were made and analyzed by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis (SDS-PAGE) and column chromatography. Electrophoretic analyses of these antigens indicated that there are 18 to 28 component bands with a molecular mass range of approximately 10,500 to 83,000 daltons.

Effect of Synergistic Fermentation of Different Beneficial Microorganisms on the Aroma Substances of Pu’er Tea [PDF]
Ripened Pu’er tea was made from the sun-dried leave of large-leaf tea (Camellia sinensis (Linn.) var. assamica (Masters) Kitamura) by natural fermentation, pure culture fermentation with Rhizopus arrhizus, or mixed culture fermentation with Saccharomyces

Uptake of Metal Ions by Rhizopus arrhizus Biomass [PDF]
Rhizopus arrhizus biomass was found to absorb a variety of different metal cations and anions but did not absorb alkali metal ions. The amount of uptake of the cations was directly related to ionic radii of La 3+ , Mn 2+ , Cu 2+ , Zn 2+

Case report of penile Rhizopus arrhizus infection in an unexpected patient
There are few reports of penile mucormycosis and even fewer in the absence of overt immune suppression. An eighty year old male with diabetes presents with penile mass. The pathology and culture demonstrated Rhizopus arrhizus. He was treated with surgery

First Molecular Identification of Three Clinical Isolates of Fungi Causing Mucormycosis in Honduras
Mucormycoses are rare but serious opportunistic fungal infections caused by filamentous organisms of the order Mucorales. Here we report the first molecular identification of Rhizopus oryzae (heterotypic synonym Rhizopus arrhizus), R.
