Exploring the Critical Environmental Optima and Biotechnological Prospects of Fungal Fruiting Bodies

open access: yesMicrobial Biotechnology, Volume 18, Issue 8, August 2025.
Mechanisms and strategies for fungal fruiting body development (FBD) are reported. The critical optima for the relevant environmental cues regulating FBD were synthesised. Fruiting body biotechnological applications and recent advances in designed approaches are elucidated.

Chronic cutaneous and mucosal mucormycosis: Rhizopus arrhizus as a major pathogenic fungus

open access: yesEmerging Microbes and Infections
Chronic cutaneous mucormycosis is a rare condition distinct from the acute form, characterized by a prolonged, indolent course and varied clinical presentations. This study presents a 5-year experience from a tertiary dermato-mycology clinic, identifying

Pulmonary Rhizopus arrhizus infection treated with high-dose liposomal amphotericin B in a heart transplant recipient under ECMO: a case report

open access: yesFrontiers in Medicine
Pulmonary mucormycosis caused by Rhizopus arrhizus is an emergent, fulminant threat in immunocompromised hosts, yet therapeutic success remains elusive when extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) is required. While liposomal amphotericin B (L-AMB) is

The molecular basis of intrinsic resistance to azoles in Rhizopus arrhizus

open access: yesAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy
ABSTRACT The fungal disease mucormycosis, while generally regarded as rare and not transmitted between individuals, has become increasingly prevalent in disaster areas, among the immunocompromised, and in diabetics especially in response to COVID-19.

Successful treatment of rhinoorbital mucormycosis due to Rhizopus arrhizus with liposomal amphotericin B, posaconazole and surgical debridement in a child with neuroblastoma

open access: yesMedical Mycology Case Reports, 2019
Mucormycosis is a rare but potentially mortal opportunistic infection caused by Mucorales. We present a case of rhinoorbital mucormycosis in an 11-year old male with neuroblastoma successfully treated with aggressive surgical debridement and antifungal ...

Lipase - Catalyzed glycerolysis of sunflower oil to produce partial glycerides.

open access: yesGrasas y Aceites, 1998
Partial glycerides were prepared by glycerolysis of sunflower oil in presence of lipase enzyme as catalyst. Six lipases of different origins were used and compared for their catalytic activity.

Implication and chemical testing of two in softening of canned apricots

open access: yesCalifornia Agriculture, 1974
EVIDENCE FROM THESE tests showed that a single fruit decayed by Rhizopus arrhizus, and placed into a no. 10 can of healthy fruit before canning resulted in total disintegration of healthy fruit during six months' storage at room temperature.

Inhibition of EGFR Signaling Protects from Mucormycosis

open access: yesmBio, 2018
Mucormycosis is a life-threatening, invasive fungal infection that is caused by various species belonging to the order Mucorales. Rhizopus species are the most common cause of the disease, responsible for approximately 70% of all cases of mucormycosis ...
