Detoxification of mycotoxin patulin by the yeast Rhodotorula mucilaginosa
Food Control, 2019Abstract Patulin is a kind of mycotoxin, which occurs in food industry frequently and constitutes serious threats to human health. In this work, a strain of yeast with patulin degradation was screened, and identified as Rhodotorula mucilaginosa (R. mucilaginosa JM19) by 26S rDNA D1/D2 region gene sequencing.

Cytochrome P-450-dependent catabolism of triethanolamine in Rhodotorula mucilaginosa
Biodegradation, 1991The yeast Rhodotorula mucilaginosa was able to grow in media containing triethanolamine or diethanolamine as the sole nitrogen source. During growth in the presence of triethanolamine, extracts of yeast cells contained increased levels of cytochrome P-450 dependent monooxygenase which catalyzed the oxidative N-dealkylation of aminoalcohols.

Eucommia leaf contains large amounts of natural active products. In extracting the substances, the most important is the removal of the cuticle layer on the leaves and the cell wall in the leaves of Eucommia ulmoides. But the removal of the cuticle layer is a technical difficulty now.

Biosynthese des carotenoides cycliques chez Rhodotorula mucilaginosa et Rhodotorula aurantiaca
Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Lipids and Lipid Metabolism, 1968Abstract The carotenoid compositions of two yeasts Rhodotorula mucilaginosa and Rhodotorula aurantiaca have been examined; acyclic and cyclic pigments were found. Kinetic experiments with resting-cell suspensions were performed to examine the pathway of biosynthesis of the cyclic carotenoids.

Rhodotorula mucilaginosa Z1 capable of degrading nitrobenzene was immobilized in polyurethane foam. The nitrobenzene-degrading capacity of immobilized cells was compared to free cells in batches in shaken culture. Effects of pH and temperature on the nitrobenzene degradation showed that polyurethane-immobilized Z1 had higher tolerances toward acid ...

Cultivation of oleaginous Rhodotorula mucilaginosa in airlift bioreactor by using seawater
Journal of Bioscience and Bioengineering, 2016The enormous water resource consumption is a concern to the scale-up fermentation process, especially for those cheap fermentation commodities, such as microbial oils as the feedstock for biodiesel production. The direct cultivation of oleaginous Rhodotorula mucilaginosa in a 5-L airlift bioreactor using seawater instead of pure water led to a slightly

Chitin enhances biocontrol of Rhodotorula mucilaginosa to postharvest decay of peaches
International Journal of Biological Macromolecules, 2016Biological control using microbial antagonists is a promising alternative approach to synthetic fungicides. However, effective biological control requires enhancing the consistency and efficacy of the antagonists used to control postharvest diseases.

Some observations on the carotenogenesis in the yeast Rhodotorula mucilaginosa
Phytochemistry, 1968Abstract The effect of some compounds on the carotenogenesis of Rhodotorula mucilaginosa was examined at growth subinhibitory levels. Ethanol, diphenylamine and isopropanol all reduced the torularhodin:torulene ratio, but only ethanol had a stimulatory effect on total carotenogenesis.

Enhancing fermented vegetable flavor with Lactobacillus plantarum and Rhodotorula mucilaginosa
Food Research InternationalThe formation of flavor in fermented vegetables is directly associated with the interactions among the resident microbial strains. This study explored the cooperative dynamics between Lactobacillus plantarum and Rhodotorula mucilaginosa in a simulated cabbage juice system.
