Ribulose diphosphate oxygenase V. Presence in ribulose diphosphate carboxylase from Rhodospirillum rubrum

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1974
Abstract Ribulose-1,5-diphosphate carboxylase was purified fifteenfold from Rhodospirillum rubrum grown autotrophically under H 2 and CO 2 . There was RuDP oxygenase activity associated with the carboxylase. The oxygenase had maximal activity at pH 9.4.

Nonidentical subunits of ribulose diphosphate carboxylase

Biochemical and Biophysical Research Communications, 1967
Ribulose diphosphate carboxylase, RuDPCase (E.C. 4.1.1.39, 3-phosphoD-glycerate carboxy-lyase (dimerizing)), catalyzes the carbon dioxide fixation of the Calvin photosynthetic cycle. The native carboxylase from spinach leaf, as prepared in our laboratory (Paulsen and Lane, 1966) is homogeneous by sedimentation analysis, has a molecular weight of 557 ...

Reutilization of Ribulose Bisphosphate Carboxylase

1978
Ribulose bisphosphate (RuBP) carboxylase is truly a multifunctional protein. Not only does it exhibit the well-known carboxylase and oxygenase activities, but also its high concentration and turnover characteristics in the leaf fit the classification of a storage protein.

Ribulose Diphosphate Carboxylase regulates Soybean Photorespiration

Nature New Biology, 1971
THE inhibition of CO2 assimilation caused by oxygen in the leaves of higher plants which fix CO2 through ribulose diphosphate carboxylase has been well documented1–5; oxygen inhibits photosynthesis and stimulates photorespiration1,2. Equation (l)1,2 describes the light-saturated photosynthesis of soybeans and other photorespiratory species in the ...

Ribulose Biphosphate Oxygenase

1985
Ribulose biphosphate oxygenase/carboxylase is a very interesting enzyme in several respects. It is the enzyme that provides the glycolate associated with photorespiration in C3 plants by catalyzing the reaction of the substrate with molecular oxygen (Metzler, 1977).

Ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase: primary deuterium kinetic isotope effect using [3-2H]ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate

Biochemistry, 1982
The primary deuterium kinetic isotope effect for the reaction of [3-2H]ribulose 1,5-bisphosphate with CO2 in the reaction catalyzed by ribulose-1,5-bisphosphate carboxylase has been determined. By use of highly purified substrates containing less than 0.13% of the C-3 epimer xylulose 1,5-bisphosphate (this material is known to be a potent competitive ...
