The Cross‐Linguistic Coordination of Overt Attention and Speech Production as Evidence for a Language of Vision

open access: yesCognitive Science, Volume 50, Issue 2, February 2026.
Abstract A central question in cognition is how representations are integrated across different modalities, such as language and vision. One prominent hypothesis posits the existence of an abstract, prelinguistic “language of vision” as a representational system that organizes meaning compositionally, enabling cross‐modal integration.

Biomechanical mechanisms underlying exosuit-induced improvements in walking economy after stroke [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Stroke-induced hemiparetic gait is characteristically asymmetric and metabolically expensive. Weakness and impaired control of the paretic ankle contribute to reduced forward propulsion and ground clearance—walking subtasks critical for safe and ...

An Integrated Modelling Framework to Determine Terrestrial Carbon Dioxide Removal via Enhanced Rock Weathering

open access: yesGlobal Change Biology, Volume 31, Issue 12, December 2025.
T&C‐SMEW is an integrated modelling framework that couples ecohydrological, biogeochemical, and weathering processes to quantify carbon dioxide removal (CDR) via enhanced rock weathering (ERW). The model captures high‐frequency plant–soil–water interactions that govern cation release, alkalinity generation, soil pH dynamics, and ecosystem carbon fluxes.

Exact solution of an exclusion process with three classes of particles and vacancies

open access: yes, 1999
We present an exact solution for an asymmetric exclusion process on a ring with three classes of particles and vacancies. Using a matrix product Ansatz, we find explicit expressions for the weights of the configurations in the stationary state.

Modeling saffron corm production under climate change using Hydrus‐1D enhanced with a novel crop yield module

open access: yesVadose Zone Journal, Volume 24, Issue 6, November/December 2025.
Abstract Saffron (Crocus sativus L.) is an ideal crop for arid and semiarid regions due to its low water requirement and high economic value. This study involves calibration and validation of the Hydrus‐1D model in order to explore the influence of climate change on saffron corm production.

Order parameter model for unstable multilane traffic flow

open access: yes, 2000
We discuss a phenomenological approach to the description of unstable vehicle motion on multilane highways that explains in a simple way the observed sequence of the phase transitions "free flow -> synchronized motion -> jam" as well as the hysteresis in

A Quantitative Analysis of 21st Century Skills: A Case of Semantic and Psychometric Overlap

open access: yesInternational Journal of Selection and Assessment, Volume 33, Issue 4, November 2025.
ABSTRACT While the concept of 21st century skills has become omnipresent, there is little consistency regarding the terms, definitions, or measurement instruments used, causing a problem for personnel selection policies as well as education and training.

Polarization Möbius strip at the tight focus of a generalized Poincaré beam

open access: yesКомпьютерная оптика
Based on the Richards-Wolf formalism, we investigate tight focusing of a generalized Poincaré beam. Analytical expressions are derived for all components of the electric field strength vector in the focal plane.

Effects of liming on soil physical and chemical properties in Europe and North America: A review

open access: yesAgrosystems, Geosciences &Environment, Volume 8, Issue 3, September 2025.
Abstract Soil acidity is one of the major constraints limiting crop production worldwide. About 50% of the global arable land is acidic. Liming remains an effective strategy for soil acidity amelioration and improvement of soil fertility. The objective of this review was to summarize information on liming effects on soil physical and chemical ...

What are the experimentally observable effects of vertex corrections in superconductors?

open access: yes, 1998
We calculate the effects of vertex corrections, of non-constant density of states and of a (self-consistently determined) phonon self-energy for the Holstein model on a 3D cubic lattice.
