Peroxisomal β-oxidation and Production of γ-decalactone by the Yeast Rhodotorula aurantiaca

open access: yesNotulae Botanicae Horti Agrobotanici Cluj-Napoca, 2010
γ-Decalactone is a fruity aroma compound resulting from the peroxisomal β-oxidation of ricinoleic acid by yeasts. During the β-oxidation of fatty acids, the acyl-CoA oxidase and thioesterase play an important role. In R.

Antiproliferative activity of synthetic fatty acid amides from renewable resources [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
In the work, the in vitro antiproliferative activity of a series of synthetic fatty acid amides were investigated in seven cancer cell lines. The study revealed that most of the compounds showed antiproliferative activity against tested tumor cell lines,

Poly (Ricinoleic Acid) Based Novel Thermosetting Elastomer

open access: yesJournal of Oleo Science, 2008
A novel bio-based thermosetting elastomer was prepared by the lipase-catalyzed polymerization of methyl ricinoleate with subsequent vulcanization. Some mechanical properties of the cured carbon black-filled polyricinoleate compounds were evaluated as a thermosetting elastomer.

Synthesis of Ricinoleic Acid Estolides by the Esterification of Ricinoleic Acids Using Functional Acid Ionic Liquids as Catalysts

open access: yesJournal of Oleo Science, 2017
Estolides of ricinoleic acid (RA) have been used as lubricants and pigment dispersant in many industries. In this paper, functional acid ionic liquids (ILs) were firstly used as catalysts to prepare RA estolides by the esterification of RAs in solvent-free system. Different ILs were used as catalysts for the esterification. Effect of reaction variables

Green Fuel Combustion Synthesis of CeO2 and Ag/CeO2 Nanoparticles for Photocatalytic and Antibacterial Applications

open access: yesAsia-Pacific Journal of Chemical Engineering, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Silver‐doped cerium oxide nanoparticles (Ag/CeO2 NPs) were synthesized using Ricinus communis seed extract as a bio‐derived fuel in a solution combustion method. The combustion reaction, carried out at 450°C with AgNO3 and (NH4)2[Ce (NO3)6] as metal precursors, produced CeO2 and Ag/CeO2 NPs.
