Organosilicon ethers of ricinoleic acid

Russian Chemical Bulletin, 2020
Interaction of vinyl trichlorosilane with sodium salt of ricinoleic acid is investigated. It is established that the composition and structure of silicon-containing ethers depends on the content of crystallization water in sodium ricinoleate, and the concentration and nature of solvent.

Ricinoleic acid-based biopolymers

Journal of Biomedical Materials Research, 1999
Polyanhydrides synthesized from pure ricinoleic acid half-esters with maleic and succinic anhydrides possess desired physicochemical and mechanical properties for use as drug carriers. Ricinoleic acid maleate or succinate diacid half-esters were prepared from the reaction of crude ricinoleic acid (85% content) with succinic or maleic anhydride.

Phosphorus-containing esters of ricinoleic acid

AIP Conference Proceedings, 2021
The interaction of thiotrichlorophosphate with the sodium salt of ricinoleic acid in alcohol-benzene mixtures has been studied. Tris(ricinoleate) thiophosphate has been isolated with high yield (80%). Its composition has been determined. The structure of the product was characterized by the following methods: 1H, 13C, 31P NMR, IR spectroscopy, gel ...

Macrolactones and Polyesters from Ricinoleic Acid

Biomacromolecules, 2005
A systematic study on the synthesis, characterization, and polymerization of ricinoleic acid (RA) lactone is reported. Ricinoleic acid lactones were synthesized by refluxing pure ricinoleic acid in chloroform (10 mg/mL) with dicyclohexylcarbodimide and (dimethylamino)pyridine as catalyst.

Ricinoleic Acid Catabolism in Peroxisomes

Botanica Acta, 1991
AbstractPeroxisomes from castor bean endosperm and mung bean hypocotyl completely degrade ricinoleic acid (12‐D‐hydroxy‐9‐cis‐octadecenoic acid) to acetyl‐CoA. Concomitant NADH formation occurred with a stoichiometry of 9 nmol NADH formed per 1 nmol ricinoleate degraded.

Synthesis of phosphatidylcholines containing ricinoleic acid

Tetrahedron, 2001
Abstract 1,2-Diricinoleoyl- and 1-ricinoleoyl-2-oleoyl-sn-glycero-3-phosphocholine were synthesised with good yields. The synthesis started with the preparation of ricinoleic acid from castor oil. The choice of a suitable agent to protect the –OH group of ricinoleic acid was a key factor to afford the final products.
