The Riddle of Uveitis [PDF]

open access: yesPostgraduate Medical Journal, 1964
INFLAMMATION of the uveal tract, which comprises the iris, ciliary body and choroid, is the cause in 8.3% of cases of blindness in the fourth decade of life and in 2.5% of all cases of blindness in Britain (Sorsby 1956). In other words, about 2,500 of the 100,000 registered blind people in this country were blinded by uveitis and its complications, and

Dose‐Dependent Reprogramming of Chromatin Accessibility by SOX4 Drives the Transcriptional Response to Iron Overload

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that iron overload triggers widespread chromatin compaction and transcriptional repression in human granulosa cells, recapitulating features of endometriosis. The epigenetic reprogramming is orchestrated by a TFEB‐SOX4‐SWI/SNF axis, with SOX4 acting as a central, dosage‐sensitive regulator.

Cancer‐Associated Fibroblast‐Derived Sphingosine‐1‐Phosphate Activates a MALL–SDC4 Axis to Facilitate Perineural Invasion in Pancreatic Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
CAF‐derived S1P activates the S1PR3‐JNK‐Jun signaling pathway, thereby transcriptionally upregulating MALL expression in cancer cells. MALL increases the cell‐surface abundance of SDC4 by promoting its recycling and restricting its lysosomal degradation, which in turn enhances RhoA‐p‐MLC2‐dependent amoeboid invasion and SDC4‐PTN axis‐mediated cancer ...
