CRYSTALLITE MORPHOLOGY IN GOLD CATALYSTS OBTAINED BY RIETVELD REFINEMENT

open access: yes, 2020
The microstructure of gold catalysts supported on rutile was obtained by Rietveld refinement. Three-dimensional images of the crystallites were generated in real space, as well as 3-D images of the microstrain distribution in reciprocal space.

Impurity Tolerance in LiFePO4 Cathodes: Contrasting Structural, Electronic, and Electrochemical Roles of Residual Ni and Cr

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Impurity tolerance in LiFePO4 cathodes varies strongly with impurity type and content. Low Ni levels are accommodated within the lattice with minimal structural disruption, whereas higher Ni contents introduce antisite disorder. In contrast, Cr impurities segregate from the LiFePO4 framework, blocking lithium‐ion pathways and leading to inferior ...

A new possible atomic arrangement for the carbon atom in the B-sites of AB-type carbonate apatite

open access: yesMaterials Research, 2011
The crystal structure of a synthetic AB-type carbonate apatite sample was analyzed by Rietveld refinement including a model with carbon atom not fixed in the B-site of the apatite structure.

Dislocation‐Mediated Lattice Distortion and Griffiths Phase Behavior in Melt‐Spun Ni2MnSb Ribbons

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This figure illustrates how melt‐spinning introduces dislocations into Ni2MnSb Heusler alloys. TEM images reveal local lattice distortions and associated strain fields surrounding dislocations at a representative wheel speed. As wheel speed increases, these distortions promote the formation of ferromagnetic clusters within a paramagnetic matrix ...

Understanding the adsorption mechanism of noble gases Kr and Xe in CPO-27-Ni, CPO-27-Mg, and ZIF-8

open access: yes, 2014
An experimental study of Xe and Kr adsorption in metal-organic frameworks CPO-27-Ni, CPO-27-Mg, and ZIF-8 was carried out. In situ synchrotron X-ray powder diffraction experiments allowed precise determination of the adsorption sites and sequence of ...

Lattice Distortion‐Driven Metal Exsolution in Perovskite Oxides

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study elucidates the mechanism of lattice distortion‐driven exsolution through a combination of computational simulations and experimental approaches. Lattice distortion facilitates the formation of oxygen vacancies and subsequent metal segregation, thereby enhancing the exsolution behavior.

Powder diffraction crystal structure determination using generative models

open access: yesNature Communications
Accurate crystal structure determination is critical across all scientific disciplines involving crystalline materials. However, solving and refining crystal structures from powder X-ray diffraction (PXRD) data is traditionally a labor-intensive process ...
