Plasma lipidomic and metabolomic profiles in high‐grade glioma patients before and after 72‐h presurgery water‐only fasting

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Presurgery 72‐h fasting in GB patients leads to adaptations of plasma lipids and polar metabolites. Fasting reduces lysophosphatidylcholines and increases free fatty acids, shifts triglycerides toward long‐chain TGs and increases branched‐chain amino acids, alpha aminobutyric acid, and uric acid.

Asymptotic pseudodifferential calculus and the rescaled bundle [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
By following a groupoid approach to pseudodifferential calculus developed by Van erp and Yuncken, we study the parallel theory on the rescaled bundle and show that the rescaled bundle gives a geometric characterization to asymptotic pseudodifferential calculus on spinor bundles by Block and Fox.

Braids, 3-manifolds, elementary particles: number theory and symmetry in particle physics [PDF]

open access: yesSymmetry 11(10):1298, 2019, special issue "Number theory and Symmetry", 2019
In this paper, we will describe a topological model for elementary particles based on 3-manifolds. Here, we will use Thurston's geometrization theorem to get a simple picture: fermions as hyperbolic knot complements (a complement $C(K)=S^{3}\setminus(K\times D^{2})$ of a knot $K$ carrying a hyperbolic geometry) and bosons as torus bundles.

Acute right bundle branch block due to pneumothorax

open access: yesJournal of Family Medicine and Primary Care, 2018
Changes in electrocardiogram (ECG) due to pneumothorax have been studied and are well described mainly in case of left-sided pneumothorax. Classic ECG finding in left-sided pneumothorax includes right-axis deviation, diminution of QRS complex, T-wave ...

Poor Outcome of Right Bundle Branch Block Coexist with ST-Elevation Myocardial Infarction [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
BACKGROUND: The incidence of new-onset right bundle branch block (RBBB) coexistence with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) has been associated with higher in-hospital mortality compared with those without RBBB.CASES: We present three cases of ...

METTL3 knockout accelerates hepatocarcinogenesis via inhibiting endoplasmic reticulum stress response

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Liver‐specific knockout of N6‐methyladenosine (m6A) methyltransferase METTL3 significantly accelerated hepatic tumor initiation under various oncogenic challenges, contrary to the previously reported oncogenic role of METTL3 in liver cancer cell lines or xenograft models. Mechanistically, METTL3 deficiency reduced m6A deposition on Manf transcripts and

Bacterial biofilms use chiral branches to escape crowded environments by tracking oxygen gradient [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2022
Bacterial biofilms collectively develop distinct and ordered structures, including fibers, bundles, and branches. Often, it is unclear how these structural motifs convey specific advantages to bacterial strains under challenging conditions. In oxygen-limited environments, dense bacterial aggregates generally deplete oxygen, which leads to arrest of ...

Constructing co-Higgs bundles on CP^2 [PDF]

open access: yesQ. J. Math. 65 (2014), no. 4, 1437--1460, 2013
On a complex manifold, a co-Higgs bundle is a holomorphic vector bundle with an endomorphism twisted by the tangent bundle. The notion of generalized holomorphic bundle in Hitchin's generalized geometry coincides with that of co-Higgs bundle when the generalized complex manifold is ordinary complex.

ECG, an essential tool to guide arrhythmic mitral valve prolapse diagnosis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2023
A 35-year-old man was referred for cardiac check-up because of suspected reflex syncope. He underwent a tilt-test challenge without syncope provocation.

Geometry‐Assisted Phase Selection: Interplay of Phase Heterogeneity and Geometry in Gyroid Shell Metamaterials Printed with 17‐4 PH Stainless Steel

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study explores geometry‐driven phase evolution in gyroid shell metamaterials made via laser powder bed fusion of 17‐4 precipitation hardened stainless steel. Locally hardened regions develop along the primary loading paths in the structure, which finite element analysis and geometric considerations link to enhanced gyroid strength.
