Geodesic-based Predictive Shape Modeling of the Right Ventricle in Patients with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) is characterized by severe underdevelopment of left ventricle requiring staged surgical reconstruction (stages) to allow the right ventricle (RV) alone to support the circulation. In this setting changes in RV size and shape over time reflect adaptations to single-ventricle physiology, dysfunction of the ...

In Vivo Cytosolic Delivery of Biomolecules into Neurons for Super‐Resolution Imaging and Genome Modification

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The N1 peptide specifically targets neurons, enabling cytosolic delivery of fluorescent dyes and proteins for super‐resolution imaging and functional genetic modification. Abstract Efficient delivery of biomolecules into neurons has significant impacts on therapeutic applications in the central nervous system (CNS) and fundamental neuroscience research.

The FGF13‐Caveolin‐1 Axis: A Key Player in the Pathogenesis of Doxorubicin‐ and D‐Galactose‐Induced Premature Cardiac Aging

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The FGF13 level is significantly downregulated in premature aging murine hearts subject to D‐galactose and Doxorubicin. FGF13 overexpression and deficiency exacerbated and alleviated Doxorubicin/D‐galactose‐induced myocardial aging characteristics and functional impairment, respectively.

The Effect of Age on Right Ventricular Systolic Function Using Traditional Echocardiographic Measures

open access: yesمجلة الكوفة الطبية
Background: In a wide range of clinical settings, comprehensive evaluation of the right ventricle has become increasingly essential. Measures of right ventricle systolic function, including fractional area change, tissue Doppler, S velocity, tricuspid ...

Ebstein Anomaly With QRS Fragmentation on Electrocardiogram

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Medicine High Impact Case Reports, 2017
Ebstein anomaly is a rare congenital disorder that involves the tricuspid valve and the right ventricle. It is associated with interatrial communication, which allows for paradoxical embolization causing unilateral blindness.

CSSegNet: Fine-Grained Cardiac Structures Segmentation Using Dilated Pyramid Pooling in U-net [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Cardiac structure segmentation plays an important role in medical analysis procedures. Images' blurred boundaries issue always limits the segmentation performance. To address this difficult problem, we presented a novel network structure which embedded dilated pyramid pooling block in the skip connections between networks' encoding and decoding stage ...

Locus Coeruleus Noradrenergic‐Spinal Projections Contribute to Electroacupuncture‐Mediated Antinociception in Postoperative Pain in Mice

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
How locus coeruleus noradrenergic‐spinal projections and subsequent α2A adrenoceptors‐CaMKII signaling cascades contribute to electroacupuncture‐induced antinociception in postoperative pain in mice is described. Abstract Postoperative pain remains a significant challenge in healthcare.

High-dimensional multimodal uncertainty estimation by manifold alignment:Application to 3D right ventricular strain computations [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv
Confidence in the results is a key ingredient to improve the adoption of machine learning methods by clinicians. Uncertainties on the results have been considered in the literature, but mostly those originating from the learning and processing methods.
