Severe pulmonary hypertension and right ventricular failure

open access: yesIndian Journal of Anaesthesia, 2017
Perioperative management of severe pulmonary hypertension (PH) is challenging. Anaesthesiologists come across perioperative management of such cases during incidental surgeries, surgery for various congenital heart diseases and valvular heart diseases ...

Transcriptomic Signature of Right Ventricular Failure in Experimental Pulmonary Arterial Hypertension: Deep Sequencing Demonstrates Mitochondrial, Fibrotic, Inflammatory and Angiogenic Abnormalities

open access: yesInternational Journal of Molecular Sciences, 2018
Right ventricular failure (RVF) remains the leading cause of death in pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). We investigated the transcriptomic signature of RVF in hemodynamically well-phenotyped monocrotaline (MCT)-treated, male, Sprague-Dawley rats ...

Bilirubin Targeting WNK1 to Alleviate NLRP3‐Mediated Neuroinflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
At physiological concentrations, bilirubin binds to the kinase domain of WNK1, thereby augmenting its activity and facilitating the phosphorylation of downstream SPAK/OSR1. This phosphorylation inhibits KCC2 activity, leading to elevate intracellular chloride levels in neurons.

Hemi-Fontan or Bidirectional Cavopulmonary Shunt for Right Ventricular Failure after Mitral Valve Replacement and Acute Ascending Aortic Dissection: Report of Two Cases

open access: yesJournal of Tehran University Heart Center, 2015
Right ventricular failure due to right coronary artery disease, right ventricular hypertrophy, stunning, abnormal septal motion, myocardial infarction, or non-homogeneous distribution of cardioplegia is an uncommon but serious complication of open heart ...

Hyperthyroidism as a reversible cause of right ventricular overload and congestive heart failure [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
We describe a case of severe congestive heart failure and right ventricular overload associated with overt hyperthyroidism, completely reversed with antithyroid therapy in a few week.

Implantable Self‐Powered Systems for Electrical Stimulation Medical Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this paper, the design strategy and clinical application of ISS are discussed in depth from four aspects: the design and optimization of the energy collection module, the selection and preparation of adaptive electrode materials, the innovation of system design strategy, and the biological effect of electrical stimulation of ISS.

Possible Involvement of Mitochondrial Energy-Producing Ability in the Development of Right Ventricular Failure in Monocrotaline-Induced Pulmonary Hypertensive Rats

open access: yesJournal of Pharmacological Sciences, 2009
The present study was undertaken to explore the possible involvement of alterations in the mitochondrial energy-producing ability in the development of the right ventricular failure in monocrotaline-administered rats.

Experimental acute right ventricular failure and right ventricular assist in the dog

open access: yesThe Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery, 1985
We describe a technique for the production of acute progressive right ventricular failure in experimental animals that mimics the hemodynamic characteristics of right ventricular failure found in some patients being weaned from extracorporeal circulation after surgical repair of left ventricular abnormalities.

Unraveling Neurodevelopment: Synergistic Effects of Intrinsic Genetic Programs and Extrinsic Environmental Cues

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Overview of the regulation of intrinsic and extrinsic signals during neurodevelopment. Intrinsic genetic signals from NSCs, in conjunction with cues from microglia and blood vessels, collaboratively regulate the proliferation of NSCs, their fate determination, synaptogenesis, synaptic pruning, neuronal survival, and death, as well as communication ...

Excellent survival and low incidence of arrhythmias, stroke and heart failure long-term after surgical ASD closure at young age. A prospective follow-up study of 21-33 years [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
AIMS: Although studies have suggested good long-term results, arrhythmias, pulmonary hypertension and left ventricular dysfunction are mentioned as sequelae long-term after surgical atrial septal defect closure at young age.
