Kinematic modelling of cable wrapping on rigid-link phenomenon in cable-driven parallel manipulators

2015 IEEE International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics (AIM), 2015
© 2015 IEEE. In cable-driven parallel manipulators, the interference between the cable and the rigid link(s) of the mechanisms were generally excluded from the workspace consideration. This leads to the loss of perfectly feasible workspace of the mechanism.

Modeling and flatness of rigid and flexible cable suspended underactuated robots

2010 IEEE International Conference on Control Applications, 2010
A modeling framework is proposed for the control of rigid and flexible cable-like systems such as cranes, together with a systematic algorithm for computing flat outputs of mechanical systems for which the flat output is a linear combination of free coordinates. Key Lagrange multipliers are shown (i) to impose the condition of cable looseness, and (ii)

Dynamics of Cable Driven Parallel Manipulator Allowing Cable Wrapping over Rigid Link

2020 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics (AIM), 2020
This paper investigates and models the phenomenon of cable wrapping over rigid links in the context of cable driven parallel manipulator (CDPM). The study addresses the cases in which parallel CDPM cables interfere with the rigid links of the manipulator.

Stability Analysis of Cable-Stayed Rigid Frames

Journal of the Structural Division, 1979
The stability analysis of two-dimensional cable-stayed rigid frames containing a mixture of rigid and pin joints, may be conveniently performed on the computer to obtain the critical buckling load and its associated mode shape. The two-dimensional frame may contain a mixture of rigid and pin joints, as well as a mixture of members under combined ...

Transverse vibrations of a rotating counterweighted cable of small flexural rigidity.

AIAA Journal, 1971
This paper presents an analysis of the transverse vibration of a rotating cable-connected spacecraft in which the flexural rigidity of the connecting cable is retained in the analysis. The method of matched asymptotic expansions is used to solve the singular perturbation problem, which must be solved for the determination of the mode shapes and natural

Deployment and retraction of a cable-driven rigid panel solar array

Journal of Spacecraft and Rockets, 1995
Cable-driven rigid panel solar arrays are deployed and retracted by two or more continuous cables running over free-turning pulleys. Each cable is connected to a motorized drum, and synchronization between the panels is maintained by a series of cable loops.

Fabrication of sections of a Nb3Sn-based rigid superconducting cable

Inorganic Materials, 2012
Using Nb3Sn layers deposited onto the outer and inner surfaces of copper tubes 30 and 50 mm in diameter, we have fabricated sections of a rigid superconducting coaxial cable up to 1 m in length. The highest current-carrying capacity of the cable at 4.2 K was 800–850 A/mm, which corresponded to a critical current density of (5.0–5.5) × 1010 A/m2 in the ...

On the Rigid-Body Motion of Traveling, Sagged, Elastic Cables

Design Engineering, 2002
This paper presents a methodology for modeling very flexible structures. A theory for the dynamics of traveling, arbitrarily sagged, elastic cables is developed for demonstration of this methodology. In this theory, the cable motion is modeled through the rigid-body motion and elastic deformation, and the rigid-body motion of cable configuration is ...

Rigid Endoscopes

AORN Journal, 1984
This is the third article on the care and maintenance of rigid endoscopic instruments. the first focused on prescribtive guidelines and rationale for handling, cleaning, and sterilizing rigid endoscopes.1 The second dealt with care and maintenance of telescopes, light cables, and light sources.2 This article examines care and maintenance of high ...
