Rigorous coupled-wave analysis and applications of grating diffraction
SPIE Proceedings, 1993A review of the rigorous coupled-wave analysis (RCWA) as applied to the diffraction of electromagnetic waves by gratings is presented. The analysis is valid for any polarization, angle of incidence, and for conical diffraction. Cascaded and/or multiplexed gratings as well as material anisotropy and loss can be incorporated under the same formalism ...

Rigorous coupled-wave analysis of photorefractive reflection gratings
Journal of the Optical Society of America B, 1998Rigorous coupled-wave reflection grating analysis and Kukhtarev’s equations have been solved in the time domain to determine the optical intensity, electron density, and dielectric modulation in BaTiO3. A novel Green’s-function approach has been developed to analyze Kukhtarev’s material equations.

Computation Improvement for the Rigorous Coupled-wave Analysis with GPU
2012 Fourth International Conference on Computational and Information Sciences, 2012The rigorous coupled-wave analysis (RCWA) technique needs to obtain the exact solution of Maxwell's equations, a huge number of matrix operations may be involved in the process. The graphics process unit (GPU) has inherent advantage in large-scale parallel computation compared with CPU.

Conical diffractions of multilayered gratings modeled by Cartesian rigorous coupled-wave analysis
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2023Rigorous coupled-wave analysis (RCWA) has become one of the most efficient electromagnetic solvers to cope with the diffractions of large-scale periodic nanostructures. Conventional RCWAs focus on planar diffractions and their iterative stabilities. Conical diffractions, as more general incidence cases, are paid little attention in developing their ...

Numerical modeling of polarization gratings by rigorous coupled wave analysis
SPIE Proceedings, 2016We report on the numerical analysis of polarization gratings (PGs) and study their general diffraction properties by using the Rigorous Coupled Wave Analysis (RCWA) method. With this semi-analytical method, we can perform rigorous simulation without paraxial approximation and have a complete understanding of diffraction behavior of PGs, including those

Structuring the incident and transmitted regions in rigorous coupled-wave analysis
2016 15th Workshop on Information Optics (WIO), 2016We adapt the common rigorous coupled-wave analysis (RCWA) to the treatment of structured incident and transmitted regions. This algorithm is applicable to simulate waveguides, fibers, integrated optical components, or generally all situations where the influence of distant interfaces needs to be neglected.

Review and Applications of Rigorous Coupled-Wave Analysis of Grating Diffraction
Diffractive Optics: Design, Fabrication, and Applications, 1992The diffraction of electromagnetic waves by periodic structures continues to be of great interest and practical importance owing to numerous applications in a variety of fields such as acousto-optics, electrooptics, integrated optics, spectroscopy, optical computing, optical interconnects, and quantum electronics. Optical gratings may be planar (slab,

Two-sided illumination in rigorous coupled-wave analysis applied to the 4π-microscope
Journal of the Optical Society of America A, 2017We apply the rigorous coupled-wave analysis (RCWA) to the simulation of 4π-microscopy. To achieve this, the concept of structured illumination [J. Opt. Soc. Am. A31, 2385 (2014)JOAOD60740-323210.1364/JOSAA.31.002385] is combined with the idea of coherent two-sided light incidence. We show how the latter can be integrated into the framework of the RCWA.

Rigorous coupled-wave analysis for lamellar grating with period modulation
2013 International Conference on Electromagnetics in Advanced Applications (ICEAA), 2013This paper considers the electromagnetic scattering problem of a lamellar grating with period modulation, and presents a formulation based on the rigorous coupled-wave analysis (RCWA). The RCWA is originally developed to analyze the plane-wave scattering from perfectly periodic structures, and uses the pseudo-periodic property of the fields.
