A Dual‐Functional Electrolyte Additive for Highly Reversible Zinc‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces tetrabutylammonium bromide (TBAB) as a dual‐function additive for aqueous zinc‐ion batteries. TBAB disrupts the hydrogen‐bond network of water while TBA+ adsorbs on Zn to improve interfacial wettability and regulate Zn2+ flux, resulting in suppressed dendrite growth and parasitic reactions. This synergy extended the lifespan of Zn|

A Chirped Subwavelength Grating With Both Reflection and Transmission Focusing

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2013
A planar lens composed of a chirped subwavelength grating (CSG) structure with high numerical aperture (NA) was designed and analyzed in this paper. The reflectivity, transmission, and phase were calibrated as a function of the grating dimension using ...

Powering Nanocrystal‐Based Heat Engines With Light‐Emitting Metasurfaces That Influence Their Temperature

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Metasurfaces and other structured photonic environments can dramatically modify the absorption and/or light emission of semiconductors. However, the consequences of these changes on the temperature of the system are not well understood. The authors address this problem for colloidal nanocrystals and leverage their findings to convert light into ...

Twin Crystal Moiré Metasurfaces for Crossing Flat‐Band Transport

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study introduces twin crystal moiré metasurfaces, breaking in‐plane symmetry to enable reconfigurable acoustic wave manipulation. By adjusting the twin angle and interlayer twist angle, various combinations of hyperbolic, flat bands, and elliptic states can be synthesized in the system.

Rigorous coupled-wave analysis of electromagnetic scattering from lamellar grating with defects

open access: yesOptics Express, 2011
This paper proposes a spectral-domain approach to the electromagnetic scattering problem of lamellar grating with defects. The fields in imperfectly periodic structures have continuous spectra in the wavenumber space, and the main problem of the spectral-domain approach is connected to the discretization scheme on the wavenumber.

A proposal of a perfect graphene absorber with enhanced design and fabrication tolerance

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2017
We propose a novel device structure for the perfect absorption of a one-sided lightwavve illumination, which consists of a high-contrast grating (HCG) and an evanescently coupled slab with an absorbing medium (graphene).

A broadband multilayered nonpolarization resonant reflector

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2015
A nonpolarization reflector constructed by a multilayered 1-D grating structure with a multisubpart profile is proposed and fabricated. Rigorous coupled-wave analysis for multilayered grating structure is adopted to theoretically investigate the ...

Light Diffraction From a Flexible Patterned Layer With Periodically Arranged Dimples

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2020
Patterns with periodically arranged dimples are fabricated by an inexpensive soft-imprint lithography technique on a flexible transparent polymer substrate. Excellent diffraction characteristics, with highly intense and fine features, are seen from these

Designing Stable Periodic Magnetization Textures by Tailoring Anisotropies and Applying Geometrical Transformation

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores the possibility to design stable periodic magnetization textures by transforming a 2D film into a rolled‐up 3D architecture and back. In case of an isotropic exchange‐biased layer architecture, the magnetization encoded in the 3D state evolves into a spin‐spiral pattern with controlled periodicity after unrolling.
