Interlocked and Knotted Rings in Biology and Chemistry

1991
Catenanes are chemical entities consisting of two or more interlocked rings. Such systems, as well as knotted molecules, belong to a branch of chemistry which is related to mathematics, molecular biology and graphic art. Many endeavours have been made to build such topologicaly novel compounds.

Small ring chemistry in crop protection

Tetrahedron, 2019
Abstract An overview is given of the significance of three- and four-membered rings in crop protection chemistry. The main herbicidally, fungicidally, and insecticidally active small ring derivatives are presented, together with their synthesis routes, modes of action and biological efficacies.

Chemistry of the Condensed Tannin B-ring

1989
The chemistry of the condensed tannin B-ring is closely related to that of the parent phenols — phenol, catechol, and pyrogallol. Many of the same reactions observed for the simple phenols can be reproduced on the tannin B-ring. These include esterification, etherification, and electrophilic addition for all the types, and metal chelation, oxidation ...
